Passenger Side Seatbelt Alarm

Had an odd shaped object in the car the other day...a rolled up sail about 9 ft long. I inserted it from the rear hatch, over the two down-folder back seats, between the two front seat, down into the passenger side foot well. Part of the sail came to rest on the front edge of the passenger seat.

As I drove off, I get an alarm gong going off, wanting the passenger seatbelt fastened. As I didn't want to stop to mess with this, I kept driving hoping the alarm might stop after a bit...kept sounding for at least 3 or 4 min. I started trying different display panel menu's and dash switches. No luck. I think it finally went quite when I started playing around with the on-board computer toggle...the one on the turn signal indicator stalk.
Is that how I actually stopped it or was it just conincidence and it shut down after a certain time?

Mike.

I think it was a matter of timing…or the weight shifted a bit. I've had the passenger seat alarm go off more times than I want to mention and have toggled to every screen possible. The weight pressure sensitivity device is not adjustable..so I'm told. Always carrying flight bags, charts, prints…just a half loaded briefcase will set it off. I finally bought an $8.00 clip…looks like the same as you use to buckle in..ahh…peace and quiet! Just don't forget to remove it, come passenger time.

Buckling the seatbelt is definitely the cheaper solution, but if this happens a lot, buy one of these:

No reason not to. Just one more thing to do. The option above was just an easier fix.

Yes, that would have worked...but I had already left the parking lot and was on the busy road. I'd need to find a parking spot to pull over and get out, run to pass. side door and get to the seatbelt (not accessible from driverside with the sail in the way). Too much fuss for my 10 min drive home.

If you have anyone near you who does NCSExpert coding you can have that turned off permanently. Anyone who feels the need to point out that this is unsafe/irresponsible/illegal etc. don't' bother. I know, I don't care and my car doesn't annoy me!

Chimex key does the trick for me…and does not allow my passengers to motor without one. I'm a much better pilot then driver

Funny - my iPhone 4 does the same thing. Purse in seat, nothing. iPhone, everytime. I guess my phone has money money in(vested) it than my purse does!

For 20 Bucks???

I got similar on eBay for 99¢ - free shipping in less than 2 weeks.

Works great - drive my son to work each morning, with seatbelt, & dog on seat at other times, without. Blessed silence & it also opens bottles
