Hello all,
I recently acquired a 2004 R50. In order to unlock the passenger door, I have to press the unlock button on the keys very slowly—that is, I press it once and the driver’s side unlocks, then have to wait about three full seconds before I press it again to unlock the passenger side. If I press it more quickly, nothing happens.
I thought this might be related to dying batteries in the keys—but I just had one of the key’s housing and battery replaced (thanks Dr. Bruce!) and that hasn’t made a difference.
Is this normal? I’ve always been able to double-press the unlock button in rapid succession on other cars.
Thanks much!

I have a delay in both of my '04s... I am at the point where I listen for the actuator to click and lights flash, pause then press it again for the second click.
Motor on!
Motor on!
Thanks very much—sounds like mine is behaving normally then.
I just checked it again and I can successfully press the unlock button a second time as soon as the lights have flashed, so more like two seconds or less (rather than the three seconds I noted above).
Much obliged!

My wife's car, on the THIRD press and hold, will open the sunroof and roll down the windows until you let the button on the fob go.
OVERDRIVE
It can be programmed to unlock both doors and hatch on the first press. However, programming needs to be done by a dealer or shop, or with programming tool such as NCS Expert.
