Drivetrain Resonator and 2nd Cat Delete - CM4
How much it would cost to do this mod?
I called couple of local Muffler stores and they told me that they would not do it.
How do you guys get this done?

I just went through this with my countryman (fwd however) and I had to get under my car with a chain pipe cutter and a straight pipe and clamps. After the cat was removed I clamped the pipe in place and drove to a muffler shop. Then they were more than happy to do the work. Just tell them you were trying to delete a resonator yourself and overestimated your abilities and want them to fix your handywork.
That is just a resonator. Removing it we only serve the purpose of giving you more sound. Me, I would keep it as I don't like too much sound. I'm getting old, I guess....
sorry but i noticed you have manic, i have the jb+ and i like it but is the manic one better?
I have been back and forth with deciding to go with a bigger intercooler. I want something that will support a 1 minute rallycross run and then cool off in the 5 minutes between runs for 4 runs or so.
Do you think the Manic tune is worth it if the only other engine mods I have are the resonator and 2nd cat delete and a short ram intake by bolting on a K&N RU-3120?

I emailed my Mini dealer about getting a JCW FMIC. I would definitely pick one up for less than $400.
i messaged Theta and he told me that the JCW FMIC is not worth it, i was told by some thats its good but i would listen to Theta. i was going to get it but not anymore.
You can always take my advice with a grain of salt, but that was my first-hand experience. On the OEM JCW turbo cranked up, it was already falling way behind. Once the new turbo was in and really cranked up, it fell on its face hard.
My current FMIC is +2 to +4 ambient at all times. Worst case is +6 in sitting-still traffic.
The JCW FMIC looked really cool when I first bought the car, but the tests just didn't show any positive results (sad to say). Like I said, mine is sitting in the corner of my garage with several other exhaust and intake systems.
I never try to steer people wrong, but I really urge you to go with a real, proven FMIC.

$150 is about double what it should cost. It's probably still worth it, but I would try to negotiate that down. It's a half hour job and a straight piece of pipe.
im cool with that, some shops wanted 250-300. now to buy some other parts
I'm ready to do a CIA, exhaust and JB+ on my R61S. Been looking at the NM cat back. If I spend the extra cash on that instead of just removing the 2nd cat and resonator, would there be any differences in power or sound? On that note, can anybody tell me if the straight pipe in their system replaces the second cat and resonator, or is it just from the 2nd cat back? What would I need in addition to that, if anything, to increase the 1.75" restriction to 2.1875" just south of the o2 sensor? (similar to the Milltek). Thanks
How is drone with cat and resonator out? I was thinking of doing this combined with magnaflow exhaust. Considering whether to also put a magnaflow resonator in as the ID is larger than stock, to keep drone down but still open up flow a bit. I had a Honda 4 cyl. at one point and took cat and resonator out. Sounded nice until I got onto the highway then I couldn't stand it. So much drone I had to apologize to people riding in the car with me. Anyone with this mod have a sound clip from interior at highway cruising speed?
So I have a 2013 R60 JCW automatic. I like the sound in videos in this thread of 2nd cat and resonator removed. This video clips are in sport mode. If NOT in sport mode will it be quieter or less poping, my wife wants quiet?
Second question, understand this has no affect on gas mileage or HP, what do I need to do to improve MPG or HP?
Thanks
