Additionally, when cruising at highway speeds or at low RPMs, you can tone it down by simply shifting earlier (assuming you have the manual). The best part is when you hit 4,000rpm plus and then it really howls! I swear it reminds me of the Aston Martin note on a Vantage.

Total price for installation including labor: $1,293.00.
It took the dealer half a day.
Do you have the JCW aero kit? I presume not. My quote is $1450 so wondering why the diff. Thnx!

I just got mine off of Sewell for a great price, and will look to my dealer to give me a price just for the install. I can't imagine it will cost that much, even though it's at the dealer.

Sewell has some great pricing and makes things easy to order....
It does seem...at least to to me and my experiences at my dealership, that if I order items online...they'll ship direct to the dealer, no cost to me and I get somewhat of a break with the installs....What's also nice is if something I ordered comes in and it doesn't fit, damaged or I'm just not happy with it...they'll take care of all the returns...no questions asked.....
Enjoy the Exhaust, You'll love it

I'll bet they quote you $150-$200 for a 20-30 min job.

If it's 150-200, that's ok to me as it saves me the trouble/expense of buying floor jacks and losing a weekend.

One thing I haven't been able to get a solid answer on is if the JCW exhaust has any HP gains associated with it? I love that I'll get an aggressive growl now, but I haven't read anywhere that it affects performance in any way.

Can anyone weigh in here?

Can they give you a quote ?? Or at least an estimate... I'd bet it be no less than 250. Most are at the 125. Per hour mark.... At least here in CT.

Does not add to the performance other than the great sound and you'll think it's performing better. Unless you start playing with some tuning... That can be done and has been w/o the JCW exhaust... Just stock..

I looked at several different exhausts...and there a few that will make a difference (perfomance wise) but I wanted to stay within the parameters of the warranty. Not sure how that works if you go outside the dealership for the install. As mentioned earlier, probably less than an hour job for any reputable garage/shop...
Just my 2 cents....For what it's worth

Thanks.

I do plan on a tune, but I thought I'd get at least +5 by using the intermediate pipe instead of the resonator. I guess I can deal with the great sound only.

I was quoted $250 for install. I have the JCW aero kit so not sure if that means more or less work. I'll call Sewell today for a quote on parts ... thanks for the tip!

Ok I got a great price from Sewell too ($900 shipped), but dealer says labor is more if I don't buy parts from them. $100 vs. $180 per hour. Does that make sense?!

My net current quote from dealer is $1240 to buy and install through them.

Mini of Murray matched Sewell price and had it installed for $65. I was out the door under $1100.

Love it, in Sport mode even better.

1100, even 1200 is a fair price and it's all legit through a Mini dealer... I had a few clamps loosen up...a little more rattle than I cared for....no issues, took me right in made it all better.......varooooom

Just got my JCW exhaust installed today.

However what I found interesting is that my dealer informed me that a clamp that came with the kit did not allow proper fitment to my 2012 Countryman. They verified that the one that came in the kit is the one that Mini sends with the exhaust, but the clamp would not allow proper fitment.

They then informed me that they WERE able to install it using a different BMW clamp that is apparently 4" and could properly fit. However this 'magical clamp' is $60 and must come out of my pocket!

I put in a call to Mini to ask if they had heard of this, and of course they didn't.

Going to pick my car up now, and I'll get a part number of the clamp that didn't work as well as the one that they used instead. But this sounds shady.

Yeah, that's pretty fishy. The factory JCW exhaust for countryman comes with the wrong clamp? I don't buy it.

Update - I just got this installed (birthday gift from my wife!). My initial observations:
- Cost $1,235 incl. kit parts, labor and tax
- Definitely sounds very rich and pleasantly throaty, even with the windows up and in non-Sports mode
- Noticeable improvement in acceleration, which I wasn't expecting. No data to prove this, just feels quicker for sure after having driven mine for 1 year before this mod
- In Sports mode, there is WAY more popping
- Since I have the JCW aero kit, the exhaust tips remained the same (thicker chrome ones with no JCW engraving). This was as expected based on info on this thread

Thanks for all the info here!

I'm thinking of getting the NM Torque Arm insert next ...

Is it required that this be installed by a Mini dealer for warranty reasons, or can it be installed DIY?

i think a lot of that would depend on your dealer. i installed mine myself and it took no more that 20 minutes from the time we lifted it to the time we dropped it... and installed the torque arm insert while she was up.

it's a super simple install. one cut on the existing pipe and the rest just clamps together.

can someone give me the part number for the silencer for the JCW aero kit? ive looked everywhere for it. I found the midpipe on many sites but tracking down the axleback is not happening thus far. I think this is the route i want to go. also if anyone wants to sell their setup please let me know.
