Smile New R59

I recently traded my "old" '12 R59 for a new '14 model!

This time I choose a Lightning Blue finish with the JCW exterior pkg. I opted for no stripes this time since the silver ones I had on my '12 faded and waterspotted anyway. It also has the H-K stereo system and auto temp. I like the looks of the JCW but didn't feel the need for the extra horsepower or cost involved to go JCW all the way.

Since my wife and I bought the first one 2 years ago, we have seen more of Wisconsin than we knew was out there. We've been to the Dragon twice, attended the MINI's on the Mack event and are hoping to get to MINI's in the Ozarks this fall. We always have a great time and have met some really great people!

Here's the first pictures.

Stay tuned for more mods to this beauty!

Welcome (again)!

Love the blue (obviously). We did MINIs in the Ozarks in 2012, really good event and well worth the trip. Watch the weather though, we really needed snow tyres on the way home through Pennsylvania but I didn't have them on, leading to some interesting moments...

Congrats on the new Roadster, Judscoop. Lightning Blue was what I had on order before the Satellite Lounge Leather was discontinued last March. It's a beautiful color and a great looking MINI. Happy motoring and please don't forget to wave.

They really chopped off the color selection for the roadster since they introduced the new MINI, shame really . . . I'm glad we picked ours just in time last summer.

Hey neighbor, loving your new blue Roadster...congrats! I'm obviously a fan of the no-stripe look, but even more so on my scoop-less Cooper bonnet.

We'll see you at MITO this year for sure. Here's another new one this year in our region that is worth consideration:

(This is going to be our club's alternative to local MTTS '14 participation since the route comes through our area mid-week and it's harder for the working folks to accommodate it.)

So Gil-Galad, I'm curious about your scoop-less bonnet! Whats the story?

Thanks for the comments!

Nothing extraordinary really. I just decided up front on the normally aspirated Cooper for the perceived additional reliability and my observations in my previous MINI (an '11 MCS) that I hardly ever spent extended time in boost conditions. I then discovered through some research that the factory exterior and interior JCW trim could be ordered on the Cooper. And that's how the order was made. The particular combination (Cooper + manual tranny + full factory JCW trim) must be pretty rare; I have yet to see another configured like mine in the wild. I am still just in love with the look (if not more, with my cosmetic mods) as I was on the day I took delivery.

But enough of my MINI. This thread is for celebrating your new blue acquisition!

I absolutely will not be putting any horizontal Ralley stripes on my new Roadster, however I am considering these graphics in black as depicted.

Any thoughts?

Just to put in the balance, personally I'm totally for strips on MINIs . . . what other cars can wear it so well ?!!!

The only thing I might have done differently in hindsight is do it myself so I could have applied a hair of creativity and personality. For the time being I'll just enjoy the way they look from factory until they get older.

I think I prefer this general look personally...

Too gimmicky for my tastes and not enough motion. I like spiney's suggestion.

I like these too, but I think I want something less pronounced.

Decisions, decisions...

Where can you order these from? Thinking about adding them to my 2007 JCW convertible with the car name in the optional text area.

I just found the images from a Google search. Looks like the grey car was on Ebay somewhere.

I think it's http://www.ebay.com/itm/2001-and-up-Mini-Cooper-Custom-Vinyl-Decal-Graphics-Checkered-Flag-Stripes-3-/330666208012?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4cfd3deb0c&vxp=mtr listing. I haven't bought these so I have no idea what the quality is like.
