R59 Roadster with HK Radio?
Roadster with HK Radio?
For those of you with a Roadster and HK radio, is the HK radio sufficient in power to provide ample volume when motoring at highway speeds with the top down? (Yes, I know "ample" is in the ear of the beholder, but I'm hoping you can give me some input anyway.
)
I'm not trying to start another general thread discussing the merits of the various audio options. There are plenty of those already, but I couldn't find anything that answered my question pertaining to the Roadster (or the Vert for that matter.)

I got it the HK in mine. I regularly drive home from work on I95 south from the 128/I93/I95 split with the top down listening to audio podcasts at 75-85mph in three lanes of full rush hour traffic with no problems. I have the windows up and the deflector in. I'm not sure what it would be like with windows down...
My HK sounds great at highway speeds; better with the side windows up. There is plenty of volume margin in the control to overcome any wind and road noise.
Obviously, certain music genres come across more effectively than others. As you might expect, you're not going to hear all of the pianississimo parts in your favorite classical tracks.

The test drive I went on had an HK and it sounded *fantastic*. Easily one of the best factory-installed stereos I've ever heard.
In addition to that, the speaker/tweeter placement is great. If you decide to go aftermarket at some point you won't likely have much more than a speaker swap and an amp to hide.

I would agree with everyone. It even sounds good with the windows down, granted the volumn is up a bit. But put the windows up and the wind screen in and you are good to go.

I agree with everybody else. Music is ok with windows down but much better with them up. I also listen to audio books quite a bit and windows down driving doesn't work so well with them especially when beside semis or under overpasses.
