HELP! Flattened soda can hit my hood.

I know this looks small, but a flattened soda can hit my hood above right headlight on the freeway. Suggestions? It is driving me insane.

Someone on FaceBook suggested Dr. Colorchip. I ordered a kit.

You can make it look better with that product or touchup paint and a Langka kit. But it will still be noticeable unless you are really good at it.

You want it to look as good as new? Let a body shop fix it.

Check with your insurance agent. You may have road hazard coverage.
I'd sure let an expert have a go, not like some guy recently reported taking sand paper to a scratch.

A couple of weeks ago, I was driving down the highway early on a Sunday morning. About 30 seconds up the road, I saw a big trash bag in my lane. I moved a lane over to avoid it. Unfortunately, an idiot in a lifted truck ahead of me intentionally swerved to hit it. It was full of soda cans. It exploded in a big cloud of aluminium confetti, raining all over my car and bouncing off the undercarriage. Incredibly, no damage was done that I could find, but your post reminded me of that story.

So many things can happen out on the roads to cause chips and scratches. That is why I will never buy a new car again without a clearbra.

Best investment you can make to keep your MINI looking new. Barely wins out over a random orbital buffer, IMO.

Thanks for all the comments. My car is ONE MONTH OLD. Sorry, Danny about your "soda can explosion."

I will take the car to a body shop, too. Or maybe I should wait until a year and have the new ones fixed too

Get this one fixed then slap a clearbra on it. No more trips to the body shop for stone chips and other minor debris impacts.

My better half didn't take that advice when I bought her 06 Cooper. It goes in Tuesday for a bonnet and bumper paint job.... $1500. Then it will get a clearbra.

if it's small enough, use touch up paint and use only a toothpick to paint it.

I'm having an Xpel Ultimate put on later this month. Bumper, partial hood, mirrors and headlights for $550.

IMO, 3M makes the best film out there. Average cost using 3M would be about $600. You would see quotes from $500-1000. Key is to pick an installer you are sure will do a good job. If you can't see some of their work, ask around. You local MINI or other car clubs is a good place to ask around.

Clear bra +1
The nose of any mini will get sandbladted in just a few years of use...and a few rock or debris tossed in...
The 3m bra i had installed on my car before delivery has done wonders for protected paint....a few larger item did leave a dig..but the paint is ok...so paintless dentrepair sometime will do fine..no respray or paint needed.
The truely **** WILL hate the tiny line where the film ends, but carful cleaning after waxing will make it be less noticeable.

I'm as **** as they come. The barely visible line never bothered me.

First, as an **** person, I love things that are straight and symmetrical.

And second, I could just look at tho other MINI, same model year, very similar mileage... and the stone chips on that one made that line from the clear bra even less bothersome.

If it makes ya feel any better mine was 6days old hit by road debris that bounced off another car. I was physically ill when i saw the damage.

Little over 4gs even clear bra had to be replaced!

Me i wouldn't have been able to wait to get it fixed headlight was damaged. Thankfully my deductible was fair.

$4,000 from road debris? What hit you... a porta-potty? A concrete block? Small house?

Friggin tractor-trailer using retread tires. Should not be legal.

Nearly happened to me going back home from MOTD a few years ago. One huge hunk of tire missed by inches on my left, another missed to the right by a couple feet.

Kind of insane doing bout 90. Not too many places I know of where doing 90 is even cool. A track is a safer place and maybe the damage would have been much less at a lower speed or better yet maybe you could have avoided the debris completely. Your lucky you didn't get injured.

A quick Google search tells me there are stretches of I-10 where the speed limit is 80MPH. 90 is pretty fast, but it's not much more than flow of traffic in a lot of places. I also felt comfortable travelling that fast in a few areas up north, on endless straight lines with no on-ramps and a million miles of visibility. I think we should probably avoid preaching about speeding here.

Agree on all counts.

Having driven at much higher speeds (legally), I can drive with complete confidence at that speed. On the right road at the right time.
