Waxy Residue?

Has anyone come across a waxy reside leaking from joints under the bonnet and doors? It almost looks like welding flux and started appearing after a couple of really hot days combined with some hard driving which left the car bonnet too hot to touch.
One side leaked over the driver fender and the other leaked over the passenger side strut head. Then while washing the car I noticed similar trails coming from the drainage holes under the passenger door.
I'm sure its no big deal, it sure does make a mess!

Called Cosmoline, it's messy and stains your fenders......I've taken my previous MINI(Clubman) to the dealership a few times for cleanup or replacement.....

I've never used it, but there is a product from Prima called Cosmonot (I think I have the spelling right) that will help clean it up.

hahaha how funny, I was just going to start a thread about this today

Yes its called cosmoline, take it to the dealer and they will handle it, thats what I'm going to do.
The stuff stained the front wheel arch fenders, which they are replacing.

My MA said it'll take three days because they are basically going to run something through the hood to let all the stuff drain out.

Sorta like a de-humidifier clearing your nose of snot

He even said they will give me hood insulation free of charge, I think its that entire black insulation that people are making a big deal about in this R58 sub-forum.
I'm excited because my car already came with one but I un-installed it when I took it to the dealer....(in the process of cutting a hole in it to let cool air into the engine bay for my NM Intake..scoop removed as well), so I'll have an extra one.

But don't worry, if your car is still under warranty they will take care of you

Just ordered this on Amazon. Will see how it works. Otherwise I might just take it back to the dealer and get the "flushing" process.
What irks me is that it is in multiple locations, bonnet, boot and passenger door.

On a side note I think I also might get the insulation on the bonnet, I just installed the NM Titanium Turbo heatshield, and WOW what a difference! Last week I made the same 1 hour highway trip and could not even touch the bonnet above the turbo. After installing the shield it was almost ice cold, but above the scoop still super hot.

When you get that insulation you won't feel any heat on the hood at all...even if you let it sit for 30 minutes after driving aggressively.

I got the majority of mine out by letting the car bake in the sun all day and using s little pressure washer hooked up to my hot water of my house and blowing it all out of the hood's nooks and crannies.

+1

The heat makes it into a sort of honey constancy and then it starts to run in what ever direction it can. Let the car sit in the sun on a hot day and before it cools down take a pressure washer to the underside of the hood and other places you see it coming form and that should clear it up.
