New member, soon to be coupe owner

Heya,

Just finished all my financing paperwork with dealership, building my coupe and placing order later this week.

For those who have already purchased, were you able to negotiate any accessories or features to be thrown in on your mini or was it a no haggle type purchase?

Thanks!

what kind of rate did they dealer give you? Seems almost backwards to do the financing first.

It never hurts to ask when it comes to haggling. Other than the Motor-tober $750 off deal my dealer was willing to work with me a little. I wanted Laguna green which had the wrong price in the configurator for a long time so they offered to let me have it for the wrong price. I don't know if being a repeat customer mattered or not since I bought that car 5.5 years ago.

I would imagine that the more options you get the more chance there is they would deal a bit since they will be making so much off of you already whereas if you just got a base car with no options they will be making less money.

The other thread talks about premiums over MSRP, but I didn't get the impression from either dealer I visited that the Coupe was going to be so popular that they would be able to do that. Let's face it, this car is very niche. And even if they really are only building 1000 this year or whatever it's still probably enough supply to meet demand. The fact that I could place an order on 10/15 that has a build week of 11/6 would seem to bear that out.

My rate is 2.9%, I'm going with a JCW.

I was just curious to see what dealers have been willing to throw in, matts, alarm sytem, etc...... All the other nonsense in that other thread linked is irrelevant and most don't even pertain to my question.

This is my first time dealing with Mini so I was looking for some helpful feedback, just seemed very silly to be spending 30-35k on a new car and it not come with an alarm system. Maybe because it's such a niche/unique vehicle they are less willing to include extra's, but I really don't know.

well, the mats are standard equipment, so I am sure they will be happy to throw those in :-) At least they are standard in the JustaCoupes so I assume they must be on the JCWs

Since the alarm is only a $500 option I am guessing they would be willing to work with you on that. It certainly can't hurt to ask.

They are standard on all Coupes (mats)

MINI rarely throws a lot of free options in so don't expect much. Mine chopped a little of money off because we negotiated but that was about it.

I meant the upgraded heavy duty rubber mats with the logo on them, I think they charge like $70 or so in the mini builder.

Thanks for the feedback though.

I've never heard of anyone doing finance arrangements before the order. But I guess you know that you won't get rejected for financing when your JCW arrives. :-)

I didn't get any freebies but I also didn't pay MSRP on my JCW hatch. I was comparing out-the-door prices with other dealerships and the price had to include the rubber mats too. Some dealerships put $0 for the mats, others just put MSRP. Didn't really matter as the final price was all that mattered to me.

And like others have said, the more options you get, the more discount you might potentially get.

Also, do people still use alarms these days? So long as my doors lock and windows close. I mean nobody in my neighbourhood cares if a car horn or alarm goes off.

I am sure my dealer is going to treat me well as the car I have in the VDC is likely one of the most expensive of all the Coupes so far. Loaded for sure so it should be fun to see. Either way not worries about it because NW MINI has always treated us exceptionally well.
