Same status for me as when I posted above yesterday! Now I just need to get my slacker MA to get paperwork to my insurance company. I'm getting paranoid the car is going to be ready and my insurance won't be!

My insurance company wasn't real concerned about me taking delivery, they said as long as I give them the new car info, my old insurance card would be fine for coverage until the new card shows up in the mail...

Yea, but I don't have any insurance right now! My MA just wrote me another email that displays a total lack of understanding. Ugh.

What's not to understand? I hope for your sake (and the dealer's reputation's sake) your MA gets his/her stuff together in time. You've waited long enough, you shouldn't have to wait longer after the car arrives because of the MA. Keep us updated.

I did the same. My MA said that maybe Saturday. No confirmation that it's at the VPC.

Somehow he thought I was talking about registration, and he would nod, etc but never got it. I have the emails, I couldn't more clearly say "call this insurance guy at this phone number about my insurance"!!!!

Situations like that make me wish I could just reach through my computer and shake the person a few times.

Alright, I'm making progress.
Still haven't heard back from my MA but ASK MINI says in transit now. Still not on WW's site so trying to be optimistic that it went on another line a while back.

Hope you guys are able to take delivery soon.

I haven't heard from my MA yet either.... Maybe I'll give him a reminder call tomorrow. I'm really, really, really hoping that it will be this weekend that I can go pick it up. Crossing fingers, toes and all sorts of other body parts.

Rooandren - what insurance company do you have? I didn't have any insurance either, and I went with Gieco. It was actually really easy and all I have to do is fax them the bill of sale and window sticker when I pick up the car. They already emailed me my insurance card and proof of insurance. There was mention of some sort of inspection that needs to happen - but since this is a new car, they actually don't need that. No pre-pick-up MA tasks at all, which is definitely helpful.

Any news? My MA is off on Wednesdays and been so patient and nice that I don't want to upset him by going above his head to someone else to check the status. But that means I have to wait until Thursday to find out, and I'm just not patient enough for that.

Unfortunatley there's not much news until it's at the dealer. In Tracking Your Mini in the Owner's Lounge, under "Your Order" there is an "estimated delivery date". Who knows how recent or accurate that is, but if you haven't noticed it, it's another neat tease!

On my insurance situation, I now admit some culpability. I see how there could, kinda', maybe have been some ambiguity in discussions I had. It's almost settled, but I'll probably be signing papers to finalize and be insured about 5 minutes before I take delivery!

Unfortunately OL is still saying "En Route" for my car, so I don't have any estimated delivery date available yet. I'm just hoping/assuming that it made it to the VDC and just hasn't been updated on OL.

Let me clear that up, this is under "Review Order Detail". That's why I mention it, because it's not where you would think to check.

I would guess this is added once you're checked out at the VDC.

Yup, that's where I was looking. You must be right, the vehicle probably has to be at the VDC stage in the process in order to have this info available. I'm just hoping that OL has been slow to update and that my car isn't still waiting to get in to the VDC.

A bunch of you were on Liberty, arrived Monday, right? If I were a betting man, I'd say that you are going through VDC today and OL will catch up with that tomorrow. Unfortunately, getting to the dealer and prepped there by the weekend could be pretty tricky.

Just got word back from my MA (he's prompt, I'll give him that). Unfortunately it looks like you are right. He said they have an estimated arrival date of Sunday but don't recieve cars on the weekends so he said I should be able to pick it up either Wednesday or Friday next week. He said there is always a chance it could speed through and be here on Friday, but that chance seems pretty remote for now.

Insurance quote

I just got a quote from State Farm, and the insurance on the MCS is cheaper than the insurance on our 4 year old Subaru Wagon!

I am loving life

That's beeezarre, but awesome! I found out today my insurance is about $300 more than if I lived one block over (I'm on the city limit!) I guess it's OK, rents are $200/mth higher that one block over in the fancy suburb.

Apparently, it is because the Mini is so safe.

Blech, I don't like the way that is phrased. Best of luck! Or how are your kids on road trips? Fly and drive it home?

We have already identified the shipper. He does round trips from New York to Seattle every two weeks so we just need to find out where he is now...

Fly and drive home - I wish!

So what I seem to gather here is that people who were on the Asian Chorus which docked on 4/27 are as of today 5/2/2007 being released from the VDC. So those of us on the Liberty which docked on 4/30 are probably going to have to wait three business days for their vehicles to be released, so maybe 5/3/2007 for us? Then 2 to 4 days in transit to respective locations, Boston, DC, Indiana.

Just trying to set reasonable expectations. Maybe we'll be surprised.
