Aonach....the Astro Black with White roof is a pretty good sticker outer too...especially if you put the white stripes on the bonnet!

I made a huge mistake today...after buying my MC...I went out and test drove a MCS....WOW.....

Aonach...big difference in acceleration....night and day.....but gas mileage averages about 10-15 mpg less on the SSssss........

Personally, I would have both! Hahaha....Ssssss was very nice tho!

But have you tried the sport button yet, or saving it for after break-in? That'll make your happpy happy again!

I test drove both before I ordered Romi. I ain't looking back. Well, except at her boot on occasion as she does seem to collect a bit of dust back there.

Better than a lint ball though! CURSED LINT *****!!! ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!

Now, about the sport button.....I haveno pressed it. I keep forgetting about it. By the time I get all snug into Romi and crank her up, and press her pedals,..I am in nirvana....

Hmmm,..boy, that sure could be read wrong.

Yah....Sport button pressed does bring up the factor definitely, but I haven't pushed Bubbles enough to really test it yet. It's still nothing like the Ssss...but for an old man like me who spent his youth ripping up roads with his tires, the Coop is just fine for me. It'll hopefully prevent speeding tickets!?

Nah...maybe not!

Lots of news today (though it may only be seen as such by us neurotic sorts!)

Saw my first NFR in the wild that I didn't own! In fact it was a cabrio! And funnier still is it was a Zipcar! (carsharing rental program thing which was my major MINI experience) It is surely the only one like that around here, since they only have a few cabrios in the whole city. But it will be interesting to see what other color hardtops they add to the fleet.

Secondly, I hit 800 miles yesterday, and all of the sudden it feels like a different car. Mostly the accelerator seems to have loosened up, so all of the sudden it has the sensation of more pep! Very cool.

Thank you very much Skuzzy....you're awesome! It took me a little while to sew the badge on this morning, but that's because I sewed it onto my skin!!!

Second thought....should we get this tattoo'd? Any NFR owners up for the challenge? Even better, if we ever arrange a NFR meet at one of the biggies, we could all get it done there! Thoughts?

Cup Rabbits...... Big Eared, Fluffy White Lint Rabbits in the cup holders....

800 miles = 1,280 kilometers...ok, I'm halfway there and looking forward to the extra kick at break in!!!

Dunt(tm) sweat it rooandren. If I did not have these things to do to keep my hands busy while I waitied for Romi, I probably would be in jail right now.

Hmmm,..maybe a sew-on patch? I'll take a look around here. There are a couple of places that do that. I might have to remove some of the smaller details for a patch.

T-shirts? Hats?

And there is a NFR cabrio at my local Mini dealer. I also understand they had a stock unit on the floor (regular Cooper) for one day. It sold within hours of being put on the floor.

Bubbles is definitely a show stopper, but every time someone stops to stare, I think they are making judgements on my deficiencies and start yelling at them...hahaha..."Yah, I'm ugly! Get over it and stop staring! Oh, you're looking at the car...that's ok then!"

I'm still learning!

Most peeps in Texas automatically assume if a guy is driving a Mini, he is gay. The girls assume he is a pansy, wimp, and/or gay. As a result, no one seems to notice Romi or will own up to noticing her.

If I put on a blond wig and shave my beard off, then Romi would probably get a lot of attention. But then again, so might I and....it ain't the attention I would want.

And Romi just passed the 600 miles mark. On her way to her third tank of gas! I still have not pressed the 'Sport' button. Nor the one next to it (ASC??). So many buttons/toggles, so little time.

When I jump out of the car, they go..."ooohhhh...he's a nerd, it all makes sense now!"...don't have to worry about anything...Except that my pocket protector may wear out?

All sorts of folks drive MINIs around here. A surprisingly high number of 60+ yo women, and plenty of manly men. Have I mentioned that my guido father in law who fires people for a living is the one that convinced us it was a good idea to buy one (e.g. nudged us into seeing a civic was too practical and snoozevill and why not get what we want?) And I can say guido, I'm half guido! We actually call ourselves ginzos, but I think that's one of our family's made up words?

On the ACS, I can't remember what that is, I think that turns OFF some important safety feature (something that keeps wheels from spinning when losing traction, but you'd want off if you were getting out of snow or something like that...too lazy to look up)

Do I always write run on sentences like that, I mean c'mon, I'm reading that post and thinking "how annoying am I, I can't believe I put people through these ranting rambling diatribes" and I know that I'm posting and people are going to keep reading cos eventually maybe I'll say something coherenet and...ah, sorry. I'll try to stop that.

You gotta be kiddin? I am the run-on king. I try to break them up, but they are still run-ons.

I find when I do try to break them up the thoughts seem disjointed rather than flowing, but then again in my head, things are running in parallel which you cannot portray in any typed format I am aware of, which forces me to arbitrarily edit messages to the point of convulusion as I make many typographical erros while typing but find after fixing the verbage and the typos it has the effect of marring the potentially humorous content to the point of it being unrecognizable!! ARRRRGGGHHHHHH!

OK, so from the owner's manual...
ASC All-Season Traction Control*
ASC prevents slip at the drive wheels while starting
off and accelerating the vehicle.
This system optimizes driving stability and traction,
especially when driving off, accelerating
and cornering, by reducing engine output and, if
necessary, braking the front wheels.
ASC encompasses the following functions:
> ABS Antilock Brake System
> Brake Assist
> Hill Start Assist

And again, the button turns it off. I think Hill Start is only with DSC? We all live in flat places anyway and I'm a loser(that's hoser for you Dennis!) with auto.

I do not have hill assist, so I think you are right that DSC is required for it. No biggy. Sounds like I need to turn off ASC to be able to really explore Romi's limits. Besides,...I got enough women in my life trying to control me. Between the Spouse-unit and the feline-unit, it is a fight as to who will be able to get me to pet them the most! I really do not need Romi telling me what to do.

Well, we are NFR. We are wierd, but in a non-dangerous sort of way.

EDIT: I just realized the two ladies who are NFR disappeared (Muse and Twings). I have alaways been able to scare off women, but I figured if they could not see me they would not know they need to run.
