I hate being in a parking lot, minding my own business, and having to turn around to see what's wrong with someone ELSE'S car when it honks!
There's enuff noise pollution now.

Reason: spelling

I didn't realize the OEM alarm doesn't use the car horn. Good to know! I'm considering having it installed soon and get quite annoyed with cars that use the horn to confirm locking.

Agreed! Plus, you can set it (in the user options part of the display) to just flash the lights only, if you don't like the "beep"/"beep-beep" it makes when you activate/deactivate the alarm. Also, when you hold down the boot release button for more than a second, it activates the "panic" setting".

Wondered about the panic function as well since it uses the same standard keypad. Cool!
Anyone have a soundclip of the oem alarm system (lock/unlock)? Don't ask me why, I just wanted to hear it.
Wish I knew how to download audio clips off my phone ... I could record it and upload it. Worse case though, if you hate it, you can set the settings to just flash the lights.
And as someone mentioned on the Newbie's section, the big light on top of the tach will flash like a heartbeat.
If you turn-on the heated seats. Then shut the car off and get out for a little bit. When you turn the car back on it turns the heat back on for you. I'm not sure how long it will remember 5-10mins maybe.
I did not know the R56 Cooper was capable of reaching (and exceeding) 40 mpg in town. I'm used to the sticker mpg numbers never panning out in real life, but they do certainly with this car!!

I think read in the MINI owners lounge R56 FAQ that it was 15 minutes ... pretty cool for those quick in-and-out trips tho ...

With the new EPA way of testing the mileage numbers go down, but all I've heard is people getting the current advertised mileage.
Sorry if this was already posted but i became really happy last night due to the discovery of a feature. It was raining pretty good last night in San Diego, to the point that i actually had the wipers on the lowest constant setting (2 up clicks). I pulled up to a light, stopped, and reached up to click the wiper arm down 1 to go to intermittent. It did it for me! when stopped, the wipers automatically go to intermittent! i thought that was cool.
Unfortunately, my buzz was killed shortly later when i pulled into the garage, turned off the car and wipers were still running until i removed the key. what the heck?
BTW: I do NOT have the auto/sensing wipers.
This too may already have been posted. But the other day i went to pick up my personalized plates. I had to remove my old ones to turn in. I looked in the 'tool kit' in the boot, and found a flat head but no phillips :-( So, I proceeded to remove the screws w/the flat head. When I was on he last screw, the handle fell off the metal screwdriver part.. to reveal that the other end is phillips!
It's probably in a manual somewhere, but who knew?

wow, that is interesting. i'm getting 33.9 and I do mostly interstate driving.
Is your car real new? I know mine had an avg around 39 for the first few months, then started dropping for some reason.
I just went from mid grade to premium gas, on my 2nd tank of it.. hoping it will up the mpg as I've read that it will. But, if it doesn't, the better gas can't hurt and whats another $5 per fillup when I'm getting twice the mpg I got in my Explorer!
Well, mine has the xenon lights. Perhaps that makes a difference.
mine squirts pretty good back there, I used it to ward off tailgaters, believe it or not.. it seems to work. I guess they're afraid the fluid will eat there paint or something? I thought about putting some kind of harmless dye in the water.. would work even better I'm sure.
