I'm glad I bought an 06! No way I wouldn't been able to wait that long, and i'm not looking forward to seeing the wacky markup all the new 07's will have in SoCaL . Looks better too

My understanding is that the 2007 will have a base price about $500 above the 2006.

Ya gotta feel a bit sorry for those poor intrepid never-say-die '07 buyers. They are one tough breed. So much drama...such chaos!!! Oh well, I think we all knew in the back of our minds that this would be a little rocky to start with. On the up-side, maybe Plant Oxford will have some good practice making a few thousand R56s before they get to ours....and ours will be even more awesome!!!!

Where are you getting this info?

Considering there being cranked out in the UK right now... or are those 5-speed trannys?

I think I saw somewhere that the 6-speed automatic is delayed. Not manual. However I am not an expert and everyone should check with their motoring advisor.

I am a motoring advisor... the manual tranny is delayed unitl march. you can ONLY get an auto for a cooper for r56 until march production

2006 models are pretty much only available in manuals... they stoped production on the autos (CVT) in september... but some were actually built in november... not many though Our dealership has about 6 cooper autos left...

I've seen that on MINIUSA, too... but how the heck do you explain this:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ad.php?t=85959

It's an R56 Cooper...

It's a manual...

It's right hand drive, but that shouldn't make a difference in the tranny.

So the US is getting a different maual Getrag tranny... just in the Cooper?

My 07 MCS has a 6 speed tranny. Must be something different for the US or they are expecting to sell more autos in the early stages.

No no no no... all cooper 6 speeds ar the same. There will not be a difffernce. Perhaps there is a shortage so they are just saying that its unavailable to the US that way they don't have to deny the 6 speed to someone who ordered one.

Yes cooper 6 speeds have been produced. Im not saying that they do not exist... They are just not coming to the US until MARCH production

So of the possible 10,000,000 configurations, we can only get about 2,000,000 now....since lots of folks will want a (no cost option) stick. I'm not bitter, it's just kinda tough/frustrating news for those wanting to spec an '07.

only the coopers NOT ALL THE MINIS just the Coopahs (non s)

as of right now all US spec Coopers (non s) built in dec. jan. or feb. will be built with an auto. thats the bulletin that i got. I am still crossing my fingers that we will get at least one pre spec 6 speed cooper... but it shouldn't happen according to there memo

I matched option for option against my 05 and the price was $1500+ more

did you choose the convience package?

There really should only be about a 500 dollar differnce. If not then you are adding more features than what your car had previously....

If i must have an early production car but won't drive an auto... How hard will it be to convert a manual trans from an R53?

Somebody in a board room somewhere must have gone with the cliche that US drivers don't like manuals anyway, and that if you've only got a limited quantity available it would be best to send them to the UK where they'll sell better.

Not saying that I agree with this. I'm just reading the mind of the corporate mentality.

Either that or

if they screw the US, the probably don't have problems anywhere else in the world. If they screw Singapore, they get 6 more transmissions to work with!

US MCS / MC Trans

Sorry guys and gals!

Let's see if we can put this one to bed. I just spoke to Scott, one of the MA's at East Bay Mini, where I am deposit down and waiting. He assures me that here in the USA, the 07 MCS WILL be available right out of the production gate ONLY with the six speed manual. All regular MC (NOT S) will only be available with the auto tranny. He had no idea how long the cars would be restricted like that, but there you have it. USA MCS = 6 speed box, USA MC = auto trans. Also, they HOPE to have demo cars available for driving by early Feb 07. I hope this helps everyone sleep better at night! Merry Christmas to everyone!
