May I Present...

May I Present to You...
Kamoze !

Reason for the name ? Ini Kamoze did Here Comes The Hotstepper. INI... MINI... MINI Kamoze... Kamoze.

Anyways, it's raining, so the focus on my budget digicam has a hissy fit, so here are some shots I just took.

Needless to say, I'M EXSTATIC !

Hey, you got a NEW one. What kind of plate is that? We will be hanging on every word you have to say about the car. BTW, congratulations.

Looks like England from the rain, the wheel on the right (wrong) side, the architecture, and the narrow streets.

Looking good, rec ! You must have gotten one of the first 07's off the line.

yeah, i'm in the UK :D how did you guess ;] our streets aint that narrow, it's just a small side road where i live.

i was driving along in 4th at about 2.5krpm and it said 99.9mpg :O but about 35mpg at the moment i think. says 306 miles to the 40g tank so far... we'll see how that changes.

i've had my order in since the 19th October, they started building week 45, mine was built week 47, a whole 2 weeks early :D drove away from dealer at 12:15 and got back home at 16:00 ish :P

and i got Bullet R91's going on it on Thursday !

Yeah, wasn't tough to guess... most other European countries have the wheel on the left side. True, I guess the streets in England aren't too narrow in most places but where I spent time (around RAF Lakenheath and RAF Mildenhall) they seemed so.

Anyway... congrats again on your purchase !

How's the new engine perform? How's the ride and handling? I'll have to wait till March to get mine.

cant open him up cos i have to run him in for 1250 miles.

the ride and handling is cool, but not gonna say anything until i get my Bullets on him :]
steering is really cool too, not too light and not too heavy, sports suspension is really nice, and the engine is nice and revvy :]

Are you checking your fuel economy at all, rec? The R56 are supposed to do quite well...thoughts? Also, center stack controls...do you like? Do they feel plasticy or do they have some heft. I see you have a manual...word is they're being delayed for delivery to the U.S., but obviously the plant is making them.

fuel economy is hovering around the 36mpg mark at the mo, only just clocked the milage to 100, so i dunno how correct it is :] i was cruising along in 4th at 2500rpm and it was reading 99.9mpg :P

anyways, the centre console toggle switches have a real nice feel to them, but the stereo ones are a bit weird. sometimes when i press them i think "ick, how tacky" but sometimes i press them and go "ooh, how swanky"... i'm undecided at the mo.

the automatic's been delayed here in the UK as far as i can work out, most people drive manuals cars here, automatic is for people who own Volvos :P

I would agree with rec at this point. I get around 36 mpg at present (less than 150 miles) on a manual car (6 speed).

I like the centre console switches, the toggle switches feel really good. I have manual air con and the switchesare a bit cheap plasticky feeling but overall I'm loving the car so far.

rec: whats the deal with the glove box on the r56, i saw theres the little one om between the air vents, and is their a normal lower one, do you think you could snap a pic of them, im just curious to how large they are

personally i love the little one in between the vents, unless its the only glove box, because it seems so james bond-ish, like you wouldnt expect it to be there and its probably just big enought o hold a small handgun like he would have.

Best name for a MINI I've ever seen. Congrats; the hotstepper himself would be proud.

not only that it seems RHD markets got screwed this time. it looks like the hood release latch doesnt move in accordance to where the steering wheel is, it appears its just always on the left on the r56 (you can see it in the above pic)
