unfortunate that they wont even be giving dealers manual MC or auto MCS. anyone interested in a test drive will just have to wait even longer I guess..

I thought I'd have a big problem waiting til I could get an '08 MC. Not as big a deal as I thought it seems.

Well guys. We at East Bay MINI will be getting some 07 MC's and MCS's in the early part of Feb. Of course there will be a couple units for test drives.
I've talked to the regional rep for the west coast. He wasn't able to tell me when (early, mid or late March) the manuals will be open for the Cooper and the autos for the Cooper S. But they wiill be in March sometime.
If you need any information please feel free to send me an IM. I'll try my best to help you with your specs and options. And of course...we sell every MINI at MSRP. No ridiculous mark-ups over here.

Does anyone know if the 6-Speed CVT w/Steptronic Mode transmissions for the '07 Minis are improved versions over the ones offered in previous years?

I have an '07 on order with CVT and am rather unsettled after reading several posts on this forum with folks having transmission problems.

Thanks.

MINI is still using CVT in 07's? Thought they got rid of that.

I am a motoring advisor and i can help you but i need a few more specifics on what you have ordered.

But... i will try to answer your questions...

the only car that can get a cvt for 07 is a cooper convertible. They have not been improved.

The 07 cooper hardtops, lose the cvt and get an awesome 6 speed auto with steptronic capabilities.

07S's also have a 6 speed automatic with steptronic.

hope i helped, if you have any more questions let me know

Piping in from the East Coast, we also sell at MSRP in Hartford, CT. If you want one of the last Supercharged cars available, we have about 6 or 7 left. We will be looking to buy pre-loved MINIs too. We'll need something to sell!
Ask for Scott.

When is the official US launch? You can't take delivery until the launch even if they arrive early from the UK.

February 17th should be the big day for all 80 dealers in the states. We may see previews of the MINI a day early, but no deliveries (to the customer) until February 17th. That's the official poop we have gotten so far. The first MINI sold will be a December built car.

sorta glad I'm in the late Feb build -

I have a Sept 05 build Honda Ridgeline and the early Feb March had some issues with leaks on the back windows. Of course that was a totally new deisngn and the MINI has been in prod for a while, but no under the R56 specs.

I do remember hearing a number of times that the early MINI had trouble with the manual trans - is that true?

Thanks for the info, that means I won't have to wait for my MCS when it arrives March (:

Global Mini in Atlanta shows 80 2006's in stock. Did other dealers not want to buy 2006 models?

The 2002 Cooper 5 speeds had a slight issue with a plastic clip failing on the shifter cable, rendering it shiftless. I think it affected a total of 700 cars. I had one of the first MINIs, number 19 out the door in March, 2002, and thankfully my car never had that problem. They did replace the bad parts though as soon as they were available. It was a little scary being a motoring advisor of a brand new car, and hearing that two of my client's cars were on the hook in a week's time with the same problem. My thought was "oh crap, I drive the same thing!"...it all worked out fine though. No tow truck for Blue Bayou.

The 2007 MINI Cooper S convertibles are also getting the CVT tranny. And to answer JJ's questions. We just bought 25 MINI's from the MINI dealership in Utah. We got a few MC, MCS, 1 MCS with the JCW and a few MCO and MCSO's.
