2013 r56 jcw turbo on 2010 r56s

Anyone know if a 2013 jcw turbo is a direct bolt on to a 2010 r56s? I’m wanting to upgrade my turbo, and from the searching I’ve done, the n14 and n18 turbos are interchangable. I just want to make sure. Is the 2013 r56 jcw the n18 engine? Here’s the turbo in question

Thank you for your input!

I swore I was done upgrading when I put lowering springs on. Feels like so long ago…. But I’m done after this mod!

It is a bolt on - a bit of a pain to do.

I replaced the OE turbo on a 2007 N14 with a turbo from a 2010 N18 without issue - except that the wastegate actuators are slightly different. I had some surging while on full throttle that was resolved by swapping in the N14 actuator.

This puts you in a good place to upgrade the intercooler and get a tune!

Hmm. I may just hold out for the airwerks that fits the N14 that’s been on back order forrrrrever! I’m just getting antsy. Already have the larger intercooler, exhaust, intake and tune.

I’m hoping to get to around 225-230hp and will probably keep it around the 18-19psi boost. It’s my daily, so I want to stay on the reliable side of the fence.

Talk to @Lou@Prototype-R about a tune, if you don’t have one already. You should be able to get 225hp out of your stock S turbo no problem.

Thanks for the heads up. It’s funny they’re in COOPER florida. A bit far from me, but I may talk with the tuner I use and see what they can do.

Lou can tune remote. He tuned my Clubman, and I’m in new York!
Who are you currently working with?

Not positive on this, but I believe that the Airworks and the above part are the same. Both are rated @ 218 Hp by BW. Note that this rating is probably @ peak efficiency (guessing), it will max out well above that but at a lower efficiency.

The first JCW turbo version used a 40mm x 50mm compressor wheel. Later versions (starting ca. 2012) use a 41mm x 51mm compressor wheel.

If the two turbos are the same, then it seems a bit cheesy for BW to use the Airworks brand on relatively old technology.

If I'm off in the weeds here, then it is likely that the only difference is a milled comp wheel on the Airworks. Not sure if that is worth paying $500 for. If it were me I'd be inclined to put the $500 toward water injection.

Anyone with more specific knowledge? Or better yet, compressor maps for both?

I had asked that same question a while ago, and never got a definitive response. The Airworks turbo was developed as an upgrade for the N14 JCW turbo, but then the N18 JCW turbo came after. If the N18 JCW turbo is as good or better than the Airworks, the N18 JCW turbo would be the better option since it is less expensive. But, I haven't been able to verify...

I use Stage Performance out of Mooresville, NC. They’re about an hour drive from me, and have been great to work with

If you are going from the standard turbo whether its n18 or n14 to the Jcw turbo you will need to get the Jcw inlet pipe for that generation. At least from what i remember.
