Fresh air intake location on R56s?

Does anyone know where the fresh air intake is on R56s? I want to spray some Lysol in it to try to get rid of the musty smell. The drain pipe underneath the car is draining correctly, so it is not that. I searched and searched, but for the life of me, I cannot find any answer on where the fresh intake air is located on these cars.

Thanks,

The cabin filter is accessed from under the glove box. The intake is behind the battery, and can be access by removing the battery and cowl cover.

Thanks for the reply.
Damn, I have to remove the battery to access the air intake? Oh well.

I suggest spraying stuff into the drain pipe (like holding it closed with your finger, and get some AC cleaner with a straw).

I might do that too as well as spray the air intake and blow everything out with AC on high and then follow it up by heat to dry everythign out. Also, wanna replace the cabin filter even tho that did not help last time.

Don’t bother taking the battery out, you can get to everything you’d see from there by taking the filter out (not too hard)

So when I look behind the battery all I see is my cabin filter. Not sure if spraying Lysol just into that will do anything.

But what is this vent? Most mechanics are spraying Lysol into these vents. Is this not air intake on Minis?

Yes, that is the general air intake for the cabin, since all that plastic isolates the cowl area where the actual air intake is. If you can get into where the cabin filter is, you’ll get much better results from your Lysol experiment.

Got it. I'll go ahead and spray both areas just to be sure. Thanks
