R56 P0300 codes

I have an 09 MCS. I have codes reading all cylinders are misfiring. I have changed all coil packs and all spark plugs. Still misfires and throws same codes. Runs terrible at startup and then starts to come back to life after a bit. Sometimes it will not have full power, so I turn it off and start it back up then I have power back. Any ideas?

Thank you!

How many miles are on your R56? Curious as just about every 50,000 miles the intake valves need to be cleaned to maintain optimum engine performance. Once the build-up reaches the maximum tolerable level, the engine will begin to run rough and misfire. You may have a rough idle, poor acceleration, stalling or single to multiple cylinder misfires. If you have any of these symptoms, check for valve residue build-up.

What to look out for (from our carbon cleaning DIY). I'd start here and see what you find.

Thank you

If it hasn't been done yet, absolutely. Inspect your valves. We have a great DIY that can help you do this yourself if you feel capable. In the years past a walnut blaster has been used to clean engine valves with the cylinder head still installed. This is still the best and fastest method to clean the valves. However, many DIY mechanics may not have this tool. So in our article we show you how we were cleaning MINI valves before MINI and BMW released the walnut blaster adapter for these engines.

Might be a bit of a leap but mine had the exact symptoms. I did the intake cleaning and had the fuel injectors cleaned which didn't help. Eventually it turned out to be the high pressure fuel pump.

Yes, this is another idea I had as I ran across a few threads that pointed to the HPFP, but the carbon clean up should still be done to help rule it out of the equation. (NAM thread for reference HERE).

The carbon clean up info is HERE. The article will give you a step by step process on how to do with without having to buy the walnut blasting tool and other tools. If you do wish to walnut instead, the tool is here and the wand is below it. There is a DIY here and the other items you'll need for the job.

The pump is mounted to the left side of the cylinder head (red arrow) and is driven by the intake camshaft. (Photo is from our HPFP DIY replacement)

No the sand will damage the metal. The idea with the walnut blasters is that the media is softer than metal, but will still remove carbon build-up.

Find a quality scan tool read all the codes being provided, there may be more to the story.

Could need any of the below work performed:
Carbon blast
Compression test & leak down test
HPFP replaced
Could also be a thermostat issue
Timing chain

You need to find a qualified indy shop to diagnose the issue further and not keep throwing money at it.

Get this for the future, will read all the codes.

Some code readers will not find all the stored codes if there is a check engine light.

Ours does:

Glad it was just the HPFP, https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ese-codes.html
