Does a BOV do anything? I heard with more boost that you should get one. I am running a JB+ so idk if that qualifies lol.

A blow off valve lets out the turbo pressured air after letting off the gas. BOV's reduce wear on the engine and turbo and also eliminate commpresor surge. The R56 minis already have a BPV so it is not nessasery.

It makes a cool wooshy sound that boy racers really enjoy. Seriously, don't go changing out this part as all you have to do is pick up a spring from Alta to make a marked improvement in performance and wooshy noises. Sort of sounds like a big dog sneezing

I always recommend those who want a BOV to get an intake for noise. Going with an upgraded Forge DV is also a good investment as the stock unit has been known to tear at the diaphragm. This is also common for Audi/VW's. Some good information here. I personally, wouldn't get the GFB. I've had one and it was alright, but I have seen them break too consistently. I now run a different brand that I can set to blow off to atmosphere, but I keep it to recirculation due to a few reasons.

Agreed! Want the sweet sounds? An aftermarket intake is the best way to go for an enthusiast!

Thanks! I'll just stick with the intake then. When my diverter valve breaks i'll switch to an after market one.

I have the Alta spring, and the AEM intake. The sound is noticeable; but not nearly as loud as a GFB, or Forge--not even close. Just a bit louder than the factory "whisper" that you'll hear with the stock airbox. I'm happy with the choice.
