Is it Worth the JB+ N18

I currently have a 2011 Mini Cooper S hatchback. I have an Alta CAI and a 3 inch straight pipe with no resonator or muffler. I am looking to go to the next step for an upgrade. Is the JB+ N18 worth it?

If you can pick one up in the marketplace here they're considerably cheaper.

IMO, either do the JB+ or go with a tune. The advantage of the JB+ is that you literally just plug it in and drive. I went with the JB only because I can't be without my car long enough to ship my ECU out for a tune, there's nobody local that I can find that does tunes, and some dealers will hassle you for having the tune (and if they update the flash on the ECU, it wipes out your tune).

came here from the CM forums to say yes!

the JB+ is awesome, got mine installed last night and now she pulls HARD.

Very noticeable in the higher revs through 4th.

Easy install, just make sure you are running 91+

If you want the advertised gains (20whp/30wtq), you should get it.

EDIT: YMMV ;-)

Based off realtime data from an OBDII scanner (had a passenger watch it while I stomped it haha), I'm seeing 15-20 tq, slightly less hp (maybe 10-15) I believe. I can't really remember but it was somewhere in that region.

I actually just had some stuff done at the dealer and took mine off. Haven't had a chance to put it back on since I picked the car up this morning. Definitely noticing NOT having it on the car.

If you step on on the gas without, you tend to get a power surge around 4-4.5K (at least in my car) and it's relatively mild. With the JB+, it's a little more linear but a lot more "savage" feeling (for lack of a better term) once the turbo spools up.

Love mine, bought used here in the Marketplace. It is a gateway mod though... you'll be looking for more soon!

How does it sound? and what you do to clear any error codes?

I think it's worth it--it's the best N18 bang-for-the-buck power-wise. You'll enjoy it.

Yes. The JB+ is awesome, but it's a "gateway drug". LOL. You will enjoy it, but it will leave you wanting MORE. I still love mine, but looking forward to a tune when I can afford it. Good starting point for my N18 mods to come. YES, you will feel it, after the proper installation. Wait for car to "shut-down" entirely, give it an hour or so. Disconnect battery negative. Set JB+ to 50%. Install JB+. Re-connect battery negative. Drive car like you stole it. That worked for me! Took a drive of maybe 50-60 miles to get the JB+ fully integrated. This is my experience, and YMMV. If there are instructions included, follow those. ALWAYS use minimum 91 octane fuel.

Exactly, the JB+ was the first "tune" to make the N18 fun, but now people have options. Tonight I was at the dyno and the customer made 202whp with a JB+ and 241whp with Manic on 91 octane. Same car, same dyno same conditions. My customers is very happy. mQubed Motorsport, Manic Tuning Dealer

you only need 15 minutes.

to install. turn off car. pop hood. close and lock doors. wait 15 minutes. install JB+. start car, make sure no CEL or anything weird. drive lightly for 50 miles.

to uninstall. turn off car. pop hood. close and lock doors. wait 15 minutes. uninstall JB+. start car, make sure no CEL or anything weird. drive to dealer for scheduled maintenance.

My JCW has some old school type mods and I "installed" the JB and checked on my scangauge a reading of 240 HP and this is NOT pushing it to the rev limiter. Nice, easy, breezy mod but $$$.

Bought one lightly used from a member on here recently. I definitely notice the difference on a bone stock '13 R56S. My wife and I went to lunch together a few days ago and when I got on it at some point, she noticed it ...
Considering what I spent, I think it's worth having if you aren't ready to go the 'tune' route.

My '13 with the JB+ stayed side by side with my friend's f56 with Berger B48 Stage 1 beta from rolling start to about 100mph. Both manual transmissions... I'd say it's worth it. Makes warranty work easy - pull it off the day before i head back to the dealer.

after I got the Manic tune I held onto the JB+ so I could use it on loaner cars while my car was at the dealers.

Hi folks. 2013 N18 MCS with JB+ from over the pond in UK here...

As a matter of interest there's no advice about anchoring the JB+ after fitment, but it may be one of those 'common sense' issues.

Do most people use theirs 'commando' or fix it to a nearby cable? ie could vibration eventually cause the connectors to fail?

(Just thinking out of the box...)

Mine's been hanging in there without securing it to anything. The cabling it connects to is fairly stiff and at least with mine, it sits pretty flat on top of the valve cover since my MAF sensor is moved with an aftermarket intake. With that setup mine doesn't move at all.

If I remember correctly, even with the stock MAF sensor location, it stills kind of sits fairly nestled in there.
