Love mine, got it used. Just a word to folks who buy one used - open it up and make sure the dial is set to 50%. When I got mine, it was set to 100%! I run 93 Sunoco, pulls so much harder now in the 3-5K range,

Good bang for the buck mod for sure! Strapped mine to the HPFP line. Didn't want to flopping around.

NOOB question. Why are you uninstalling when you take your MINI in for maintenance? I presume this device voids the warranty (and why)? The fob doesn't record something for them to identify its been running overclocked?

best not to give the dealer ammo to try and deny a warranty claim, while it doesn't void your whole warranty, if something were to happen to the engine or turbo, they could claim this device was the cause, thus denying to fix under warranty.

Just take 2 minutes before you go into service at the dealer and pull it off. It installs and removes in a minute. It just takes about 50-60 miles to adapt once its installed.
Great product and I take a lot of them on trade when customers want to go to a complete ECU flash tune.

I love mine. I don't think it's a gateway. I went down that road with my old GTI a decade ago. Downpipe, APR Flash, hoses, SMIC, yada, yada, yada. The part that sucks is getting any decent work done to the car after that. Now, this? It's got enough to keep me entertained and I can just remove it if when I take it in for service. Easy peasy.

Even if you don't have a warranty and just take your car in for maintenance, aftermarket things tend to give them excuse to find something wrong that "needs to be fixed".

Anybody know what Mini does to raise N18 hp from 181hp on the Cooper S to 208hp on the JCW?

For one, a larger turbo. Someone else will have to chime in as to whether there's different mapping than the Cooper S.

That's about it . A 2mm bigger turbo and a very mild up in boost. A Manic Stage 1 a completely stock car will destroy a JCW or GP.

Why dial down to 50%?

Hi Guys,

I just ordered a jb+ for my 2013 MCS. Just curious, why are some saying to dial it down to 50%? In the manual it says to leave it at 100% unless you are running fuel that is 90oct or below.

Maybe you are saying start at 50% and then gradually increase after the adaptation period?

Thanks!

The new version 100% equals the original version 50% as I recall. That might account for different interpretations.

I've long been tempted to get one for my JCW. A number of owners of the F56 JCW cars have gotten them and love them. Interesting thing is a few actually bought them at their dealerships and the dealer installed it, so I guess that answers the question about voiding the warranty.

My bad, they actually buy one made by NM, for $300-400. I think they do the same thing, increase turbo boost. It clips on, no reprograms. I thought JB made one for the F series too, but maybe not. The F series has been out for going on 3 years now.

I got the JB+ today, opened it up at it was set at 60%. I email burger and they said that was the default setting and that 100% is only for race gas and downpipes. The manual says 100% is the default with the only requirement of 91 octane fuel. WTF!? Is there anyone running the JB+ on a stock car with 91 octane fuel? If so, what is yours set to, and what was it set to when you got it?

I had the pre CARB version came set at 50%. The CARB approved version was apparently at 100% which equaled the old 50%. Now it is even more confusing with the 60% setting. Don't have it anymore so can't check it, maybe someone else can chime in.

So if you buy one new now you set it at 100% and use 91 octane gas (we're supposed to use that anyway). Right?

Not sure, here is my email chain with Burger (thread starts at bottom):

From: Burger

You can turn it up to 100% and if there is no check engine light you are fine.

---------------------------------
From: Burger

That is correct. 100% is for race gas and downpipes.

From: eRock

Hi,

I just got the JB+ today and it was set at 60%, is that default?

---------------------------------
From: Burger

Hi,

For 91 fuel you leave it at default setting.

Hi Team,

I've been reading some of the older forums on the PB+ over on NAM and some are saying to set it at 50% whereas the install guide says to leave it at 100%. I also noticed that there is potentially an 'original' PB+ and and new PB+ and thus there would be a difference in the settings depending on which version you have.

My main questions is, with this one that I've just ordered, what setting does BMS recommend with the following setup:

2013 MCS N18
- K/N drop in panel filter
- JCW rear exhaust muffler
- Exhaust Resonator delete
- CA 91 octane gas

Thanks!

-Erik

I've set it to 70% to be on the safe side and drove around the block. No CEL so far. I have a 50 mile round trip commute tomorrow so I'll report back how it goes.

Quick update on this. For some background, I purchased the newer JB+ with the CARB approval. It came set at 60% out of the box (strange) and Burger said that was default (but the manual says 100% is default).

Anyways, I set it to 70% and let it adjust for 60 miles. I just did a fast run and got a max of 16.24 psi , so it's definitely doing something as I think stock is somewhere around 14.5–15 psi. I can also feel it pull harder, especially in the 4K+ RPM range.

I going to do the hot side boost muffler delete which I've read reduces the intake temp a good bit and then I'll turn the JB+ to 80% and see how things go.

No CEL so far. Cheers!
