Mini one 1.4 2007 experiencing misfire after a long journey

Hello,

I have a Mini one 1.4 2007 edition and recently I am experiencing misfire from cylinder 1 when stationary at traffic lights after along journey. However it performs flawlessly during load. I have replaced the coil pack and the spark plug is just under 1 year old. Can anybody give suggest, I can try to resolve this issue?

PS: majority of my research suggest, I have a carbon build up in the valves.

Regards

does the mini one have DI? if not, it shouldn't be carbon buildup. any changes with gas or oil?

There MINI One 1.4 was the Gen 1 R50 up to 2005. Then a MINI One 1.4L N12 engine 2007+

"The entry-level One features a perky 95hp 1.4-litre petrol engine,"

No HPFP , its port injected , the carbon build up is on the Cooper S and JCW models. Never heard of it on a N12 or a 1.4L . I would check those plugs and coils. Are you getting cold start up problems ?

It's a port injection rather than a direct injection.

I'll change out the spark plug on cylinder 1 and check for vacuums leaks. Can anybody help me with a diagram to locate the vacuum hose?

The fuel and oil comsumtion is the same as before. I burn 1 litre of oil every month, which I have been told is standard for an engine with 134k miles.

I'm not experiencing cold start issues. I only experience the misfire once the engine is hot from a long drive. Which is roughly 40 miles each way to work

That's the most common vent hose, but with a leak it throws a code most of the time.

All I can think of is that in the cold climate your throttle body might be sticking from gunk and you get a stumble.

It connects to the intake manifold. On the bottom

thanks and good luck.

It's time for a compression test in the trouble cylinder, if compression is low that would explain it wanting to stall. When you're on the gas pedal compression pressures are higher than they are at idle. Test all cylinders while you're at it.

Compression and spark plugs + coils will be checked by a professional mechanic today. I asked him to clean out the throttle body too.
