Winter Wipers post-June 2012
Hi all!
Has anyone tried winter wipers on their MINI? Post June 1012, the hook style was abandoned for the straight bar type so I'm having trouble finding winter wipers that will fit this newer design.
I have never tried winter wipers, but am having a lot of problems during wet snow storms and ice storms with the connection becoming frozen and/or jam packed with snow causing the wipers to malfunction and completely miss the most important part of the windshield.
Any winter wiper fans out there? If so, any brands you recommend that will actually work with this style? (The ones I purchased had an adapter for the hook, but my "arm" is wider than the adapter so it won't work.)
Many thanks!
Best, Laura

They are fantastic. My 2013 came with them. After a trip to Germany in 06' our Audi A3 rental had them. We went in the winter time. I was sold. I've used them every since.
Costco sells wipers that fit. I've had them, as well as the original Bosch Icon design. the Costco wipers (Good Year) are just as nice, but have a slightly chunkier look to them. But the cost of the Costco wipers can make me forget all about that!

Thanks for your quick and informative responses. I don't have a Costco membership so will have to go with the Bosch. Are these the ones you are talking about? They don't say they are specifically for winter, but looks like the attachment mechanism is covered, correct?
Thank you for your help!

THat listing says it will not fit my year MINI, but you have a 2013, so must have the exact same connector that I have, no? Maybe the amazon "car fitting program" sucks?

p.s. I'm in New York.

I give up. I ordered the Bosch Icon wipers and clearly they will not fit on a 2013 MINI. Maybe the Clubman has different wiper arms, but the J-hook style is not the kind I've got. Sigh. Guess there are no winter wipers that will work with this new style. What a drag!
Thanks anyway folks. Wishing I had my old 2007 MINI right about now!

Sorry but we haven't found any aftermarket wipers that will mount on the new wiper arms.
But if you have a 2012 you should still be under the maint program which will give you a new set of wipers FREE once a year, some dealers will do it more than once a year.

I've bought the Icons also and they definitely didn't come with the correct adapter and had to return them. I concur with Way, it seems to currently be a dealer only part.
FWIW, the wipers have chattered horribly since day one, I've just been to lazy to get new ones at the dealer. It's due for an oil change in a month so I'll get new ones then.
Also, I believe they started with the Countryman and are slowly transitioning through the fleet.
