Some of the simplest maintenance items can be quite challenging to identify for replacement, this includes the Rear Wiper Blade on the 2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 MINI Cooper S Hatchbacks.
MINI decided to change the part number for the rear wiper arm and blade mid-production. These arms and blades must be matched and are not interchangeable. Off-the-shelf generic wiper blades are not compatible with MINI's rear wiper. To further complicate the matter, we have found some early MINIs with the later Rear Wiper Arm and later MINIs with early arms!
