soooo tempting. this kit looks simply like oem headlights. we do know that the harness plug from halogen car plugs right in to the oem hid headlights, so i dont know whats different with this "plug and play" kit. if its a coding that can be done through ncs expert i might just do that and find oem headlights second-hand
Sorry for the late response. BMW seems to have taken down the tsb and the install instructions. Iv seen it before. It just says plug and play. I've also verified with a set in house that they are plug and play. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures. If we have another set I'll get some pictures for you guys

2011+ I believe is what they are for. I'm not sure about any older years. I'll see if we have some at the shop and do some testing
We have a thread running here on the programming issue. From what some people are posting, looks like they plug and play, but have a strobe effect on start up, which might require coding. In general the headlights are for 9/2009+ production.

Some people say programming is required, some say it works without. I believe both parties, I'm just curious if the year of the car has something to do with it. Also, are all of these test cars fit with stock halogens, or xenons from factory? Information like this will help give us an idea of what is going on.
So if you have tried these, what year was the car, and what lights does your car have stock (assuming halogens, but you never know)

Has anyone purchased these and had them installed yet? I'm interested in feedback of the lighting and output vs. the stock halogens and if there's any comparison to the stock xenons (35W) vs. these retrofit (25W) (pics?)
My dealer advised cost is $500 per headlight + $365 labor and about 2.5 hrs of labor time with programming required.

Electronics have changed a bit. I did a D2S retrofit with stuff from theretrofitsource.com and had no issues on my '09 R56. When I traded in and got a '10 R55, the lights worked just fine. But, after the re-check or hot check of voltage the car would tell my I occasionally had a headlight out (after about 30 minutes driving) and none of the lights were out. I had this coded out at MOTD last year and forgot about it but yeah, my 2009 and 2010 were different with regards to headlights and the wiring/programming of the car.
What about the pre LCI cars, do they have no chance at all to fit those lovely xenons? I got a 12/2008 car and asked the dealer about that and they give me a $3.5k quote to do it in the traditional way, 35w xenons (not 25w), washer, wiring, self leveling, etc......
Got some feedback from the dealer. Apparently they have installed them on LCI cars and they all needed to be coded. They are not compatible with pre-LCI cars.
Yeah they work great until the MINI is started up. Then they flicker like a strobe light.
Also, feels like they are aimed a bit low...never had xenons, anyone can tell me if normal? The same "handle" in the top picture is not very evident as in the bottom with the xenons on.
Sorry for the large sizes.
