Mini problems

Hey guys I took in the mini for a check up and **** I did not know it had all this ****.

Intake Pipe : $129.57 (engine light & lacking power) (extended warranty said they will not cover)
Carbon Cleaning : $690.00 (engine light & lacking power) (extended warranty said they will not cover)
Water Pump : $626.00 (leaking coolant) (extended warranty said they would cover up to $320.84 for this repair)
Rear Main Seal : $1184.00 (leaking oil) (extended warranty said they will not cover)
Vacuum Pump : $606.00 (leaking oil) (extended warranty said they will not cover)

And the prices are super ridiculous

Any way I can get this done my self?

Can can give the prices of the parts and link a couple how to: Are you throwing codes?

Intake Pipe : Should have the rubber ribbed version unless you have upgraded to the hardened plastic smooth pipe. Easy to replae as it comes off with a couple clamps.

Number 10 in the diagram.

Link to water pump area, you can get to it from the front right wheel well after the wheel is off and the wheel well fabric is out.

I'm thinking that the rear main is one that you will likely want to live with, unless you are really, really picky about this stuff. How many miles are on the car?

OK, let me get this right. You paid for an extended warranty, you're told you need $3,236 in repairs but the extended warranty will only cover $321 in repairs. Roughly 10% in total.

And...you don't sound upset. What am I missing?

I know folks on this site strongly recommended getting the extended warranty when my warranty ran out...this is exactly why I did not get it. Yes, I am gambling but it seems like a sure bet the extended warranty company will not pay!

Which company is providing that extended warranty? BMW/mini or someone else?

Well all I have is a 3party company standar warranty in which they only cover so much lol. But all of these quote include the massive excessive price of labor of mini in which it's ridiculous. I will take it to the same shop that fixed my tranny in which the warranty covered and they put a brand new one in.

My son used to work for a company that sold 3rd party extended warranties. After he left the company, they were forced into bankruptcy because of illegal practices. The two owners have been convicted of crimes and are currently either serving time or waiting on sentencing. My son advised me to never buy a 3rd party extended warranty.

The extended warranty prices seemed ridiculous when I got my 2012. And reading the forums about a DEDUCTIBLE?!?!?! WTF? And now it doesn't even cover the repairs?! Glad I didn't get one.

not all extended warranties are created equal and yes, a lot of them have gone under. I purchased one with my car and its already saved me 2k in a few months.
Mine covers all mechanicals (basically engine parts, anything that requires lubrication), a/c, window motors, tranny, drivetrain for 3 years, 36k. Then it extends out powertrain to 5yr, 60k from purchase date/ mileage.

I would never buy one that came offered in the mail though.

We also got a ford extended warranty on our cpo explorer. It covers pretty much everything but tires until 80 or 100k (can't remember).

Yeah, sometimes I think Mini/BMW writes up a bunch of BS to try and get money out of you. Our local dealer always finds at least 2k wrong with a car when brought in for oil changes/ inspections.
Last quote they gave me, I took my car to the local respected euro shop and they couldn't believe what the dealership was claiming wrong. The oil pan leaking was nothing more than oil spilled from the last oil change. And the dealership totally missed the valve gasket cover oozing.
