Secret Compartment/Dash Rattle Fix?
Just seeing if any has been able to anti-buzz/rattle their secret compartment in the dash or can point me to some info on it. I plan on removing the parts next weekend and trying to fix it once and for all. I have some foam tape and lots of built up annoyance :-).
Please help if you can, thanks...

I had that problem once. I have the english oak dash and it turned out to be the wood buzzing on the plastic backing. They replaced the whole assembly and when I left it was still buzzing. Drove right back and they stuffed some goo that they use for windshield replacement between the two layers and buzzing gone. I still get an occasional rattle on rough roads. I have a book of matches stuffed in the lid as a shim. I never put anything in there or open it so I'm considering taking the hinges out and just using RTV and gluing the door back on and forget it.
I use mine becuase that is where my IPOD spends most of its time. Once I can sit down and look at it to find out why it is rattling I will fix it. It started buzzing when I replaced the clear plastic gauge faces. I had to take the dash apart to replace the damn things and dropped a screw in the back of the compartment and well had to take it out and that is when it started rattling.
After searching far and wide for the rattle that I have, and that bugs me the most, I think I've found it...the secret compartment.
It starts around 1500 rpm and ends around 2000-ish, mostly in cold weather. If i make a fist and give the top of the dash a bump, I can recreate the buzz every time. Is this what you guys are talking about? Because it's not coming from the door to the compartment, rather the bin portion itself (I think).
Thoughts?

Have you checked to see if the a/c vent is rubbing the door panel? I reached over once when mine was buzzing and pushed my hand in there a bit (basically gently pulling the a/c vent exterior a bit) and it went away. A small shot of that felt between the two seems to resolve, and I've seen this on many others.
