Air conditioner compressor noise (rattle)

My air conditioner compressor is creating a rattle in my R56 (like engine rattle when the AC is on).
On realoem that part is listed at ~950$ . [/url].

I found it on ebay for ~400$ new.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-AC-A-C-REPAIR-KIT-W-GENUINE-OEM-COMPRESSOR-CLUTCH-FOR-MINI-COOPER-/291512556959?fits=Year%3A2008%7CModel%3ACooper&hash=item43df809d9f&vxp=mtr
Any idea if this a real genuine part?
Is it possible to repair mine?

This is a previous post I did, I doubt you have a compressor issue if it cools correctly.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ml#post4115213

I have a mini cooper 2009 S hatchback with the same humming noise. Called Mini and mentioned the bulletin number and they told me the following

Its a Damper Part with screws: Part number: 64509231714
part cost: 227.75
part with labor: 284.93

seems a little steep to me, found the same part for $120 online but no screws and I have no idea how to install it.

Thanks ! ☺
I couldn't find if it's easy to install it by myself as the bulletin manual shows the intallation is from the bottom, i.e. It needs the ramp.

its not difficult to install, you just remove the passenger front wheel and the AC line is there. The $150 part is just a weight, so its supposed to weigh down the line so it doesn't hit anything when it vibrates, to me that is too much money for such a part and thus rigged up one myself that I made out of some metal clamps I had. The sound is still not gone but it is almost gone, it is definitely way better than it was before. Perhaps you can do that to test if that is what is causing the issue before you cough up the cash.

Figured I'd post this, I ended up going to a boat shop and saw these things which look just like the AC damper thing they sell and it works perfectly, also perfect fit. The cost of this was under $15 by the way. Not sure what they are used for on a boat but it is heavy.

Awesome. I love it when a DIY miniac beats Mini from ripping off with their outrageous prices.

Interesting find! The $15 is definitely a more attractive price: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...&I1.x=0&I1.y=0. Do you know a specific part number for that item?

No, they just had a section with a whole bunch of these items. I didn't even look at what their name was or what it was for all I cared about was that it fit my car. I am sure there might be better solutions out there for it but next time I go there I will take a photo of the part number.

Nice. That may be useful for someone in the future and good find.

I looked up the UPC on the picture of the part eliseo1981 posted. Amazon sells them in all kinds of sizes, I think the one eliseo1981 has is 1 1/8 inches.
