Looking for 12v Constant on OBD2 for gauge hookup...

does anyone know which wire it is. Alta's directions tell you everything BUT where the 12v constant wire is. I can figure everything else out. I have read and searched, but have not found this info. Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

Realized you're looking for power on the OBD serial connector...

Should be pin 16. Confirm with a DMM.

Got it, thanks! The gauges are hooked up just like Alta's instructions, but for some reason they only work when the lights are on. What gives? Any ideas. These are the prosport gauges. Thanks!

Sounds like you landed a required constant 12v wire from the gauges to a switched, lights-on only wire on the vehicle.

From the OBD2 you mean? I used the pin16 red wire with the blue stripe. My ground(black) wire went to the cig brown wire. The orange wire went to red cig (lights on?) and white wire to the DSC grey/red stripe (12v ignition on)? You think I need to swap the orange wire with white wire? I bet thats my issue. I bet I have confused the ignition on wire with the lights on wire. What do you think?

Your description sounds right, but you might want to double check that you actually hooked it up that way. I just installed this myself over the weekend and everything is working fine. I would check that you crimped the right extension wires onto the right wires on the gauge pigtail. While it looks like you have the wires connected to the right spot in the car, you might have swaped some wires higher up in the harness, giving you the trouble you are describing.

I had the orange and white wires mixed up. The white should go to the cig red and the orange goes to the DSC grey red stripe.

That alone should not have stopped the gauge from working. That only changes the color of the gauge during day/night operation.

It does if you have to switch on the lights to get power to the gauge. I had the 12v switched wire hooked up wrong.
