R56 head rest problem
head rest problem
Own a 2011 MCCS, how do I remove the plastic piece from the back seat head rests so they aren't blocking my view? I know u can remove the actual head rest, but would like to remove the plastic piece so I can push them all the way down. Any ideas?
Ok, remove headrest, take a very small screwdriver or even a bent paper clip and push metal pin in plastic collar out. Once you get it started you can finish pulling it out with your fingers. Remove plastic collar and reinstall headrest. Repeat for the othe headrest.

headrests
Anybody know if this will work in the CM? The front head rest bottom is almost level with the top of my wife's head, who is 5'. I had thought the plastic pieces were locks to prevent the removal of the headrest and not to prevent maximum lowering.

Removal of the little black "collars" allows you to push them all the way down for maximum visibility instead of taking them out. That way should you have occupants in the rear they will still have the protection of the headrests by adjusting them back up.
I just picked up my 2011 Cooper Friday and was so frustrated by this, I thought I was missing something! It just seemed like they should go all the way down! Thank goodness they are now all the way down like they were in my 2006! Seems like a really dumb thing for them to be that high!

I just removed the collars using a small screwdriver and a hammer. The pins pushed right out...doesn't require a lot of pressure, just a few light taps. The head rests slipped right back into place, but now slide all the way down to the seat. The dealer told me that it was a new DOT mandate for whiplash injuries...I new someone on the NAM website had already "resolved" this issue...Thanks Again.
