2011 R56 S Model Spare Tire

Does the R56 S model come with a spare? I'm thinking about ordering a MINI soon, and was just doing some research.

I have no previous MINI experience.

I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that since the "S" version comes with standard 17'' rims, they therefore come with standard runflats, and the runflats replace the spare.

Yep 2011 MCS does not include a spare. Atleast mine with 17s and RFs did not.

The S doesn't come with a spare because the exhaust is in the way.

You can purchase a mounted spare tire from Chad at Detroit Tuned for $110. I got one several weeks ago. $110 is a great price.

As you guys know, Chad is the guy on White Roof Radio who does the "Ask Chad" segment.

Good info in the detroittuned link.
Sent a couple of questions to them and am hoping for positive responses.

Unless they've changed since 2008, the standard wheel size on an S is 16". But no spare is included.

Will the Detroit Tuned spare fit over the brakes on a JCW?

It probably won't fit over the JCW front brakes, but it's best to put the spare on a back wheel of a FWD car anyway. So, if a front wheel goes flat, put the spare on one of the back wheels and then but that back wheel on the front.

The spare will not fit on the front of a JCW, and shouldn't be there anyway, and it will not fit on the rear of a JCW unless you use a spacer. Some have gotten away with a 5mm spacer, others have had to use a 10mm spacer.

Ditch the run flats the day you bring the car home, then hit up Tire Rack for a Continental ComfortKit... basically the same concept as the M Mobility kit that BMW puts in the current M cars, the *only* BMWs that don't sport run flats. I have one in the back of my MCS, just in case...

That kinda thing is original equipment on many cars - Chevy Cruze - Dodge Challenger - etc.

I have the Slime Spair kit in the jack well, and an extra pressurized Slime can and a Dynaplug kit on the floor board behind the driver's seat.
