Superglue Removal Question!

Hi There!
In an effort to prevent my Mini Cooper from being hit by more deer I purchased "deer alarm" that could be attached to the car. In my thinking at the time I superglued the devices under the hood, having them just behind the air scoop.
Over the last few months the glue had eroded to where the glued devices are easily removed from the hood. So, bad idea!
Now to remove the remainder of the glue I have determined that either I must chip off the glue, taking the paint; or, I must look for a solvent to remove the glue.
Already I have chipped some of the under bonnet paint (which now shows an eraser sized black undercoat). I have my Lanka kit ready! However, I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas to remove the dried superglue from the paint to limit the paint chips I will otherwise be creating.
Any advice appreciated.
Blessings,
Michael Rebar

Get some Last-Clean at http://www.thelastglue.com/

Did the deer whistles work? I have always heard they don't.

BTW - This is the best glue I have ever tried for gluing your fingers together, bar none!

Google it, you will find a resounding NO! Best defense is hit the brakes. Don't try to steer around unpredicatable animals and possibly into a ditch or on-coming car.

Acetone also does a real good job of removing paint. BE CAREFUL.

+1 on that. Big time!

On my Chili Red R56, there is basically no clearcoat under much of the under bonnet area. The paint rubs off on a white rag with simple rubbing alcohol let alone acetone. Even 409 takes it off, and Windex to an extent too. Without a lot of care, it quickly wears down to the tannish primer, and the red itself is thinly sprayed to start with, seemingly only a single coat. Frankly the most fragile unprotected underhood paint I have ever come across--in dozens of cars and many brands with lots of harsh chemicals in the past. Outside looks fine, but this paint approach is pretty lame by standards I have seen from mundane to high end. Another dollar or two saved I guess by not spraying the clear coat there, and a bit more body paint. Problem exists to a lesser extent around the rear hatch opening here and there, though the distance from the seams where the clearcoat did seep in some is never that large.

You could try some stuff called Goof Off. Its in a yellow can and can be found at Home Depot. I've used it to remove sticky stuff from badges on car paint with no paint damage. Just be sure to wax the spot after...

Another one that took the paint off underbonnet actually...

both Goof Off and 3M Adhesive Remover did the trick too. On the outside body paint, no problem w/ any of these products (and I have them all for such uses). But underhood (bonnet) the paint almost can't be breathed on w/ out revealing primer on mine.
