Hello all!

My wife just placed an order last weekend a Cooper S with all packages including the new JCW package.

She selected the package with black JCW wheels, however, she just got notified by the dealer today that the JCW package cannot be ordered with black wheels, only silver wheels can be ordered. The dealer said the build your MINI feature for the JCW package will be taken out soon.

Have any of you ordered the JCW package with black wheels?

Ultimately, no matter what we say, doesn't matter. The dealer is the one placing the order. Either they are correct or lazy. That being said, my factory JCW car (not S) has black wheels, but no JCW body kit. If you are referring to the body kit, then I think it's only silver Challenge wheels as many have talked about powder coating them. You can always add black wheels to the order, but then you'll get 8 wheels as the JCW look package includes a set of wheels.

Well I seriously doubt that just after adding to the "Build Your Own" on the MINI website that they would remove it. I call "********" by the dealer. Try calling other dealers and see what they say, but as I said at the moment I doubt what he is saying.

 

Yes, the JCW package is the one that include the body kits and the challenge wheels. If that's the case it really sux as my wife will don't like the silver rims.

Car makers often package things to streamline the built process. It also could have to do with brake clearance, but probably not. It also may be an issue with the black so they stopped using them. Really though, if they don't make it that way, you can't get it, and the dealer has the most up to date info. Even if they made them that way before, it won't matter (what if the supplier was based in Japan, etc.) Lots of things can come into play with todays cars.

 

I am in the same boat, placed an order for the black wheels and am now told that black is only for JCW cars. My dealer is going to paint the silver wheels black free of charge to me.

 

was it that it can't be ordered at all or can't be ordered with the particular exterior color combo? I noticed on the mini site that only certain exterior/roof color combo would allow black wheels.

 

I just got word from my MA, he said that he is going to order an actual JCW car with black wheels along with my wife's order. So the two cars will arrive at the same time and once both cars get to the dealership, he will swap the wheels for us so my wife's car will have the black wheels. If everything works out the way my MA told me than that's consider a job well done!

My wife was pissed off so she wanted to cancel the order. But then the MA called and gave us the alternate solution by ordering an actual JCW and swap the wheels for her once both cars arrive. See if your MA can do the same.

 

i think i would call MINI USA to double that is the case.... i say its ********, because if its SILVER ONLY then why the hell do even have that option on the website.

yea call MINI USA directly. and ask about it..

in my head, the dealership is doing something shady, i BET you they are "SAYING" it "CAN NOT" be done, but behind the scene is that its possible, and when the cars come in they just swap out with the silver...and keep the black ones for profit....that's what I would do if i own a dealership.
