The order is in for Mini #2

I just paid off my 2007 Mini S a little early and will be putting it up for sale in the next couple of weeks. I currently have a C/R and black with the bonnet stripes with the cold weather, premium, and sport packages that were available at the time.

My new order is a 2011 S, BRGII with black roof and sport stripes, Premium and Cold Weather packages, xenons, black headlight housing, black wheels, and Mini Connected. Decided not to go with the sport package this time as the New Hampshire roads are murder when you have 17 in wheels. Looking forward to the HK stereo as the 07 Premium package did not have it, so I have the stock radio and it sucks. Only planned mods at this point are to blackout everything except the door handles, which I understand are a giant pain to do.

So in working with the dealer, the only thing I was unhappy about was what they offered me for my trade in, so I decided to sell instead and already have a few people interested. When I first talked with them they had given me a quote on having the invisishield installed and he had misquoted it, so they gave me a $500 discount on the car, and when doing the configurator it said that you had to add in the armrest for $250 when you have Mini Connected, but on the order it came up as included. Just hope now that they still have one of the free package deals and good interest rates when the time comes. Estimated delivery date is on my birthday. What a present that would be.

Congrats - my wife and I just picked up MINI #4 this past weekend. I think that you will enjoy the improvements that MINI has made to the interior and controls.

Awesome! Sounds like it's going to be a really well built car.

You can buy black door handle covers from aestheticreations.net, but the quality isn't the best.

What did the dealer offer for your 07, and what are you hoping to get for it privately? I also have one of those. What's the sticker on the new car? I think I'll keep mine another year and look at a factory JCW, but who knows. My car is still going great. I agree the 17' RF tires are a load. I'm happier with nonRFs.

Nice configuration on your new car, I LOVE brg2!

The hk in my clubbie is definitely a huge improvement over the base stereo in our 2008. The stock speakers were so bad I replaced them almost immediately.

My 07 has less than 29k and they offered me just under 12k originally and then offered 13k. I am putting it out there for 17.5k which is less than any of the 07s they had on the lot and they all had more miles on them. Putting it out a little higher than I expect to get, but already have some feelers at that price.

New car was 28300 without the invisishield and sport stripes, but the took 500 off the car. total for parts and labor on the stripes and invisishield was around 1100 which includes the bumper and front part of the hood, the lights and foglights, and the mirror caps, and sport stripes on front and back with the invisishield cut around them in case they get damaged.

17's are ok in non-rf. I have them on my car now and they are a hell of a lot better than the rf's were. I figured 16's will be ok in RF for now until I need to replace them, then even more comfy once I put the non-rf on them. I do not race my car, so no need for bigger wheels, and I have driven a car with 16's and you can still drive in a very spirited fashion with them.

One other mod I am considering is putting a stiffer sway bar in the back just because I like the feel better. I did not do that with my current car, but did it with a car that I owned before and it made a huge difference in the way the car handled. Only thing about doing that is the need to drop the subframe, not sure I am ready for that kind of work.

Yes I have the invisashield also, I worked at the dealer at the time. Cost on those things is $400. I used to charge $800. at $1100 they are really milking it.

But I think its a good thing to have

The 1100 included the parts and labor for both the invisishield and the sport stripes, not just the invisishield.

You take 12k for that car and the freaking sales staff will be freaking puking with laughter as you drive off the lot. I took Mini's lowball offer on my Jeep GC when I bought my car only because I sort of knew there was a "problem" with the tranny and suspension.

I'm looking at ordering my first MINI and was wondering if the $28,300 figure you are quoting was the MSRP or the negotiated price?

I'm just wondering what kind of discount off MSRP I can realistically expect for an ordered MCS?

sumint - I'd love to hear replies to your question. I'm in the process of trying to order a 2011 justa and am getting no help in negotiations with the 2 dealers I'm talking to. Just msrp plus a bunch of out of pocket fees (over $2k not including down payment). Very frustrating - i've never purchased a car where they could get msrp. I know being able to walk away is key so I'm trying not to seem too interested or get my hopes up too high. Just don't think I can bring myself to pay msrp+ !!

I ordered my MSC in January and was able to negotiate a small discount in addition to any MINI / BWM Finance incentives that were available at the time of delivery. I think the more you have in options and packages the better your negotiating position, as those items really add to the bottom line profit to the MINI and the dealership. Fortunately, MINI has traditionally maintained very high resale value, and I suspect the fact that most new MINI's continue to be sold at or near MSRP is a primary reason for the high retained value of previously owned MINIs. Depending on where you are, and how far you are willing to drive, there are deals available. Certainly if there are several dealerships within close proximity, you will do better. Best of luck in your negotiations.

I ordered in January and got a $2000 discount or $1500 because they screwed me a little bit on my trade. From now on, I'll bet there ain't no MINI discounts or discounts on any car that gets decent MPG. The new Honda Civic comes out next month and I'll bet they are not discounting the old ones much. $3.50 + per gal. gas will do that. I bet it will be $5/gal. by this time next year.

Sorry, have been away on business (actually still am) and this is the first chance I have had to check back in to NAM. 28300 was the MSRP after I ordered everything, but was lower than what was on the configurator because the armrest was included with the Mini Connected and a couple of other minor differences between the order and the configurator. They took $500 off the MSRP for me so it is down to 27800, then add on the dealer stuff like the stripes and invisishield. Also, still hoping there will be some kind of "free package" deal when I pick it up, but who knows.
