Is that steam coming from the hood? I'm not sure but I bet that may be overheating.

I had this when my Mini after it had it's PA State Inspection. The tech did not update for the next inspection and I reset it myself.

On page 4 of the Service & Warranty Information booklet that came with my 2008 Mini, it is shown as #6, State Required Safety Inspection. In the Owner's Manual on page 54 it is # 6, Roadworthiness Test. It's the same thing, they have to be careful on what to call it based on the state you are in. PA requires state inspection annually. Every state handles it differently.

My question is, Why are you getting the warning with a date in the future? I think you need to check the date setting on your Mini. My guess is that it is set incorrectly thus you are getting this warning as shown.

It is an SOS over the bonnet, and a clock with the date of the end of the world - Dec 2012.... .....time will run out.

It should be set to match when your State Inspection is due and you will get a warning if it becomes past due. I had my Mini inspected and the warning was not updated and it gave me a (false) warning. The dealer told me how to update it.

In CT we have no annual state inspection but mine went off 1 year after construction of the car. Dealer can, in theory, shut it off so it won't go off again.

I think the dealer sets the date very far in the future: 12/2099. If it goes off, you and your Mini are doing well!
