did you replace your antenna with a stubby?

I was trying to do a poll....but I don't see that option.

this is the first mod I did --- before I even left the dealer's lot!!!

if not, WHY? I really don't like those long antennas that are on sooooooooooooooooo many different types of cars.

pics????????

here's mine...approx 3.55" long..still good radio reception

I bought the stubby a month before I had my MINI and it was the first thing I did when I got home. I just didn't care for the long antenna. I replaced it with some no-name piece I got off eBay. It's REALLY stubby (that's what she said) at about 1.5". I have an XM radio and don't use AM/FM at all.

I bought the same 1.5" eBay stubby antenna because I use a car cover outdoors.

I did. Got the one from Out Motoring... simply because I was ordering other stuff from there at the time and might as well get it all in one spot. Seems to work fine, but i rarely ever use the radio.

It was literally the first thing I did when I got home with my brand new Mini. I replaced it with an Alta 2inch antenna, one of the only things I will probably buy from Alta because it actually works lol.

I run a 7" rubber from Lo Custom. With it's internally wound wire, it's like a 57" antenna.

I did about a month ago, but now I'm going back to OEM. I just like the OEM look more.

I got mine from Out Motoring as well because I was ordering other stuff. I really wanted a shark fin to replace it, but no luck finding one.

I got one, short stubby billett silver one. Then they lost it at the dealership washing the car. They gave me $50 in merchandise and a short black one. I lost the merchandise coupon. Oh well.

Yep, screw it on as soon as you thread in the 6mm female to 6mm mount stud...or 6mm to 5mm if you have a Gen 1. Reception is every bit as good as the OEM antenna. I tried one of the short billets from WMW, just didn't have the reception I needed in the Denver area (which sucks). So then I went back to the OEM til I found this one, now I'm very happy.

I've been debating whether to get the Alta 4" or the 2", but the stock one is definitely getting replaced. Some people like the OEM look and that's totally fine. I prefer something a bit more lower profile.

I was trying to find some good pics of the Alta 2" but didn't have much luck. It looks like Davidoyo is the only one in this thread that has one so far...do you have any pics by any chance? TIA

Replacing the cheap nasty shift **** was my first mod. Did that at the dealer when picking up the car.

A Craven Speed MINI Stubby was done a few weeks later.

When I bought mine used, it had a sharkfin cover which most likely has nothing screwed into the antenna hole. The reception is bad, but I don't ever use FM. I'd rather have nothing as far as FM is concerned. =]

Ask and you shall receive. I like the Alta 2" antenna because it looks good and there is no reception loss as far as I can tell. I only had my iphone so sorry if the pictures are not super good.

I got one in Asia for less than $5 at a retail shop. It is lightweight aluminium with 3 different heights and two seperate sizes for the base. Works great.

Wonder why they costs so much here?

Very nice, thanks! The last pic is the angle I was looking for. I agree, the 2" looks good. I especially like how you can see the Alta logo at the bottom but then everything else is pretty inconspicuous.
