PUSH START R56 manual?

Can anyone inform me how to push start a r56? It was easy on my r53.
Thanks for your info.

Well I have no idea but, this is what I would try. I would put the fob in the slot then hit the start button so that it turns everything on but the engine then I would start pushing then throw it in gear and pop the clutch. BTW why are you trying to push start that is what Mini roadside is for?

I was told by the dealer that you should not under any circumstances push start an R56. For what it's worth.

There are instructions on how to do it in the manual.

I've done it once. I was in a bind and my battery had died in my garage and no one around that could give me a jum. I coasted it out in the street which is on a hill took off the break and popped the clutch. It started right up. this was around 20,000 miles ago and there has neve been problems. Also, i had the key in the ingnition [I have comfort access]

If it's anything like BMW's bikes, your "dead" battery has got to have enough of a charge to, at least, run the fuel pump. If the battery is completely flat, even push starting won't help.

They refer to it as "Tow-Starting" in the manual. In my manual it is on page 130, but I think different models and years have different page numbers. The meat of the procedure is:

Switch on the ignition
Shift into 3rd gear
Have the vehicle tow-started with the clutch completely depressed and then slowly release the clutch. After the engine starts, immediately depress the clutch completely again.

Pretty standard emergency start procedure.

Also turn off any electrical loads that aren't necessary, like lights, radio etc
