Considering a 08 MCS...
Hi all, first post here. Possible MINI owner!
I'm considering the following:
08 Cooper S
Auto
9000 miles (warranty good till 6/2012, mtc until 6/2011)
Black leather, pepper white
Sport package
Premium package
Price is 21,000. Car is in excellent shape.
Thoughts? I've spent a few days researching, and this seems like an excellent price.
Thank you!

not bad. is that a dealer other than MINI, or a private party? If so you may want to spend a few $$ to get it inspected. You should be able to negotiate down to $20.5K on this.
and at least it's an auto, so U need not sweat those nagging clutch issues
if U get the car, make sure and join the "Automatic Transmission Owner's Club" (in the General forum.) We are a small, but tight-knit bunch, and we'd love to have ya!

oh and if have an extra $2K to spend, consider a JCW Tune Kit for that auto. Mild to wild!
That's about the blue book price so not bad. My 08 has been pretty good, just had a front strut replaced for a strange sound up front when hitting bumps. I have 11,300 miles so far, I'm happy with my car.
If you're buying private party, I second the idea of having the car fully given a pre-sale inspection at a local Mini Dealership. It will be about $100-$150 and be the best money you ever spent.
They'll run a history on the car right there and you can see on the computer what it's been brought in for, etc. Then you can use anything you see to help your position in negotiating.
I have a used 2008 MCS that I bought from a non-Mini dealer and did just that. I bought it a year ago though.

Sequence,
I am interested in joining the Automatic Transmission Owners Club, but cannot locate it on the General forum section or in the clubs section. It must be really small. Can you be more specific?

Always offer less on a used car. I got my 2008 MCS automatic with premium package, lounge leather, hifi audio, 11,678 miles, one owner, Carfax was fine for $21,680 last October from Porsche of Annapolis used car dept. They had it listed for about a thousand more. The month before they had it listed for $24,000! It was a trade in. If you know the selling dealer, call them up, give them the VIN and they can tell you the service and warranty repair history.
