Ready to Buy MCS... I will walk a mile...

Looking for a very clean, accident free MCS... any year considered with an edge toward most recent Gen1's.

Willing to travel to find the right car at the right price from the right owner. Asking prices are just too steep around here anyway (Cali).

Options/Colors are secondary to condition and the warm and fuzzies I get from the seller.

If you are looking for a worthy guardian, I promise to treat your little girl with the love and respect she deserves.

Peace.

There is a post on MiniUSA.com in the owner network under "anything else" where Suzanne from Gibsonia,PA 15044 who has an 06 MCS for sale and wants to find a good home for it. If you have access to that site you might be in luck.

Did you have a chance to search this forum yet? There are some really good deals here. I wish I was in the market for a used MINI right now...

i did the same thing, got my car from out of state. cars in cali truly are in general pricier

when i got mine, it had california and federal smog certification. i was under the impression that all mini/bmw's are like that, but you might want to check...not that it really matters. but if you end up getting a highly modded car from out of state, make sure it'll pass smog before you ship it over

but if you do end up getting one of those left-over brand-new '06's from out of state (i found some really good deals on those), make sure it's both ca and fed certified, otherwise you can't register it

Thanks for the great responses! I guess I should be a little less vague in my quest...

I should have said I'll walk a mile, but not 3000.
I'll travel within the western states and maybe half way across the country. There's a couple I have my eye on that are further, but I need to test the waters locally a little deeper first. (Unfortunately that pretty little red JCW will be gone by then )

I do have a budget. Sorry if it sounded otherwise. I'd rather put $ to performance (i.e: S), than creature comforts. I'm sure whatever I end up with will be much more comfy than my other main vehicles: an Early Bronco (selling for the Mini in fantastic original condition - nudge) and my 65 Chevy pickup. Tho half of it's service will be in the hands of my wife as a part-time commuter so she'll have some weight there as well.

If you squint a bit, the Early Bronco looks a little like a Mini on steroids.

Frankly, I can't justify paying mid 20's for a loaded Mini when I believe can get a new 06 S with minimal luxury at a dealer for the low 20's - unless it's really *somethin somethin*. If I can get a used S with low miles for under 20, even better. A tall order for a pampered vehicle, I know, but that's why I'm expanding my search as far as I am.

Carnivore, I am aware of the CA emissions decal tho it's always nice to be reminded. Thanks! Say, can you direct me to those dealers with great prices on leftover 06's?

I have other trade bait as well: Black Dodge Hemi truck and a Harley... and maybe others. I'm going to do a major vehicle reshuffling this year to better suit my needs. Big statement for someone that hangs onto stuff FOREVER!

Thanks again for the inputs... much appreciated.

Hey Buzz, they want me to have a VIN to get registered there. What's up with that?

Not a very good place to sell a Mini if that's the case!

I would check Oregon... or Seattle....

I bought mine in portland off craigslist... 02 with 57k miles and every available option (literally). <3 Nav... for $16k

Did I mention a set of OZ Superleggra's with new rubber?

I have a couple friends in the Portland area who go to the dealer auctions every week... I could put you in touch with one of them... they charge $500 over whatever they buy it for.

If it's a weekend, I'll even pick you up from the Airport in my MINI

Good hunting...!

Right-on my friend.
PM me some contact info!

I'm getting a good gauge on prices per region thanks to Craig's list.
