R56 JCW vs MCS
R56 JCW vs MCS
Nicely equiped R56 MCS costs near base price of R56 JCW.... having said that, which car has more "potential" of performance in the aftermarket arena...
They say JCW has some internal parts that's more robust than MCS... does that mean you can push it more than MCS engines?
My car is week 32 order as 08 MCS... i see that a lot of people are getting their 09 JCW on the same week.. i feel like i got jacked with time frame.. lol
but ya.. i build my MCS at 27200 with stuff i probably dont need...
sorry.. i just cant play the waiting game... it sucks... 2 months away..

The base price of the MCS [$21,850] and base price of JCW [$29,200] are a significant price difference. Of the $5,350 in options you put on your MCS, probably $3,850 would also be wanted on the JCW [I subtraced the a la carte prices for the anthracite headliner, piano black, and 17" wheels]. This would leave you with a $33,050 JCW, which is still a sizable chunk more than your healthily optioned MCS that will probably get noticably better fuel economy than the TBD fuel economy on the JCW.
Whether the JCW model is a reasonable solution for your needs is entirely up to you. If you're not sure you need the extra factory-backed engine tweaks, big brakes, and JCW-specific wheels, then the JCW is clearly not desirable enough to you.
As for aftermarket potential, it's worth saying that the amoung of money you would have already spent on the JCW would make modding it [and willingly taking the warranty risk, if that matters to you] even more expensive. Taking a stripper MCS and modding the crap out of it will yield a quicker car today and probably for the next year. After then there might be some potential advantage seen with the JCW engine, albiet small in my prediction.
Cheers,
Ryan

Hi, I am in week 32 also. I think it may be a matter of do you want to have the parts now or install them later? I built mine from an S and JCW and did the math on all the options I wanted and excluding labor they were similar. So, knowing the dealer would need to charge labor for all the items I wanted I went with the JCW. It's a bargain if you want the performance parts upfront and under original warranty.

Ill just keep my 08 MCS build. As i do like customizing and modding to my wants.... JCW stuff is cool... i guess if you really want the warranty thing... I am getting the KCW aero kit though... but as far as the CF parts... pretty pricey ....
