What is a "cold-climate version"?

This was on the option sheet the dealer sent to me today on my 2010 order. It isn't the cold weather package. The dealer rep didn't know what it was, he just said that some MINIs are equipped this way regardless of the climate they're sent to.

Yea mine said that too! It was annoying because at first we thought it was cold weather package and spent like 10 minutes looking for the heated seat button.... Still have no idea what it means tho

Maybe it's something techie-wacky-mechanical under the hood that had to be rubberized or insulated to endure our "cold" climate here?

just a guess. i wish i knew these parts under the hood, i dont even know which of those metal pieces is the turbo. My friend said the turbo in the mini coopers looked small.. which didnt help. but dude, everything about the dang car is small except the central speed-o-mememeter

I saw this on MotoringFile about the new Clubman. Perhaps this has something to do with it:

In addition the car can either come with : A) summer configuration: 17” Black Web-Spoke w Performance Tires (2RW) or B) winter configuration: 17” Black Crown Spoke (2RP, 2RV) w All-Season Tires (927) and Cold Weather Package (CWP)

Could it have anything to do with the revised intake that helps combat icing inside the manifold? We have members here that have had those retrofitted onto their cars by dealers up north.

I know this is old, but my 2007 MCS has the "842 Cold Climate Version" and didn't come with that newer design intake(also because it wasn't out yet), so I have no idea what is different besides Realoem saying that the injector harness is different for 842-optioned cars

I did buy the cold climate version anyways because I was rebuilding the engine and it was only $40 and came with all new gaskets. I am planning on making some sort of high pressure misting system to run in-line with that direct port pcv setup so I can clean my valves automatically or at least with a push of a button every other day. There will be a build thread when I finally get around to it. Not sure if I'll mist something like seafoam, water, or some other concoction, but I'm confident I can eventually create a permanent fix for carbon without any walnuts

Yea, I believe it was not out in 2007 but later on as a repair fix and certain northern locations as a option.

Sounds like a great project. Some people have through of using it for just that , a easy carbon cleaner injector location.

Yeah, I definitely need to get a catch can or something on there in the meantime. Not sure if my recent stumbling idle was HPFP jitters first couple minutes after starting, or if it's sucking in "normal" amounts of oil now with the new valve cover. It would be real bad in non-sport mode with the old cover. I vented the rear port to atmosphere until the new cover came in and all was fine again...

Soooo nobody knows what it includes and why something like the injector harness would be different?

The harness might be different per your car , but the intake is the same in the US and Canada version whom had this update for that part number. All I can think of on the harness its the same but with more insulation and wire wrap fro colder areas or maybe it pre warms the coils with a low voltage before start up.
