JCW side scuttle seems loose?

Put some JCW side scuttle's on my clubman Thought I would ask this here due to more traffic. The bottom part of the scuttle is fine, but the top JCW part slides on and off way to easy for me. Should it be this loose? I know I have it installed correctly, but it's not like it snaps into place or anything...

I was thinking of maybe just super glueing it in place as I would never change to the british flag tops or something like this....

Mine is exactly the same. Loose as it slides back and fourth, however it can't slide out unless the hood actually open. The lip of the JCW Scuttle is pretty deep, so if someone were to try and pry it out, it would crack in half in my opinion.

I too was thinking of putting a dab of glue on it to keep it from sliding.

I actually had a JCW "Mesh" side scuttle separate from the base and was lost. On my second pair I used a dab of silicon caulk on the back side of the holder to ensure that the "mesh" could not separate. If you wanted to change to another style it would be simple to take a razor blade and cut the silicon to allow the piece to slide free of the base. Haven't had any issues since I put the silicon on the back. Hope this helps.

I had the same concern when I installed mine. I ended up using a little superglue to keep everything together. I am not planning on changing them again so this was a good solution for me.
I recommend something to keep them in place. Just too loose and I didnt want to worry about losing one.....

Do you still have the other one? And is it the passengers side (fingers crosssed)? If so how much would you like for it? Ghryll

Hey guys.... a few thoughts.

First, there is at least one set of JCW scutles for sale in the for sale section. (70 for the pair, IIRC)

Second, I would take my car back to the dealership.

I lost one of my JCW scuttles and took it to the dealer and they covered it under warranty. (Though my car is a JCW, it didn't come with JCW scuttles, I installed them)

Just thought I'd mention that....

Just noticed last night I lost the meshed part my drivers-side JCW side scuttle. As i look to get another set, I'm going to be using glue to set them in permanently.

Any favorites?
