31.5 mpg on the first tank of gas!

Picked up my MCS on Monday in Hartford. Did mostly around town driving back and forth to work. Blasted up to Boston on Wednesday and home Thursday. Coming home traffic really sucked. Many, many back roads to avoid the crowded freeway. Bad idea... stuck on Rt. 9 for well over an hour going an average of 20. Finally back on the freeway and home in three hours.

Mileage on the first tank, as the picture shows was 31.5. Coming from my M3, that's extraordinary.

Looking forward to many more tanks of fun and great mileage.

31.5 calculated, or according to OBC. The OBC is notorious for guessing high. Either way, 26-32 is great for a first tank. Welcome to the world of MINI .

I get between 30 and 32 mpg consistanty as calculated by a little iPhone app. That is a mix of city/highway.

I've been averaging right around 31 in normal, day-to-day mix ... mostly side roads with a few highway. I've gotten better than 35 mpg burning up a whole tank or two on the highway, usually doing a steady 80-85. That just ain't right for a car that's this much fun.

My OBC calculated almost 29mpg for my first tank, but when I calculated it myself I got closer to 26.5mpg. Still good for my first tank, but the OBC is pretty optimistic.

I have been getting 32-34 avg which considering the way I've been pushing it has been very acceptable. Maybe when I start driving with a little common sense I'll see that 35+ but that my be a while, having too much fun right now.

I have never seen 35mpg even with cruise control on 400 miles of highway.

That is odd...mine is always always 36.X with a mix of city/ hwy and i usually get 37.x-38 if its all highway....
