Trading my 2007 MCSa for a MCSm
So after countless months of problems with my auto tranny I am finally just going to trade it in for a manual. I was wondering though..... I have an 07 is there anything different on the 09's besides the year?
Also is everyone happy with their stick shift who has it?

There's a few subtle differences, they covered in various threads around here. Most of the differences appeared in 08, like the tire pressure monitors (rather than the abs based flat tire monitor). Also, there's the auto up windows, the availability of the bluetooth without the armrest, the different iPod adapter (USB and Y-Cable), and the display flashed up "Sport" when you hit the sport button. We have both an 08 and 07, so I've noticed the differences, most of which I wish the 07 had.
I can't remember what people have said about the differences between 08 and 09, except for the increased padding on the headrest. Some people are finding the 09 headrests to be uncomfortable.

Be aware of the fact that clutch problems have been reported in the R56 MCS manual. Also some gearbox related issues "3-2 squeal and so forth". The grass may not be greener on the other side.
Before making the switch I would investigate if some of these issues have been mitigated in the newer cars.
FWIW, my one year old Clubman S auto has been rock solid. You are the first auto owner that has claimed to have issues with his car. I am still convinced that for long term reliability, the AISIN automatic is still the better way to go.
