No power to Tach, Spedometer or A/C

I just went to to start my 08 MCS with 2400 miles on it and I have no power to my Tach, spedo, obc, and the a/c is blowing cold air. Anyone experience this before? It starts and runs fine just no power to the above mentioned items. I called Roadside assistance to see if they could recommend a fix such as a fuse, but they were worth about as much as the card their number was printed on.

The only mods I have done to the car was hardwire my radar detector and I changed the oil a couple of days ago. The radar detector is working fine by the way as is the radio. I haven't drove it since I changed the oil.

Any suggestions?

Well I just unhooked the battery and hooked it back up and all of the lights and gauges are now working. But now I have the check engine light on.

You can go to an auto parts house like Autozone or Napa and have them plug a code reader in and see what code is causing the engine light.

I just went to autozone and they pulled up 5 codes

p1409 = Evr control circuit malfunction / egr vacuum regulator soleniod circuit.

p1433 = a/c refrigerant temperature circuit low

p1551 (was on there twice)= "A" camshaft position actuator control open circuit bank 1

p1104 = not sure it didnt come up in autozones system.

I just changed the oil a few days ago. The dipstick is hard to read so I am not sure if I overfilled or not. I added 4.5 quarts after changing the filter and letting the oil drain for about a half an hour. So I am pretty sure all of the old old came out. Also I had a little oil leak from the filter housing. Could it have leaked on a sensor?

I'm definitely not an expert, but when someone says, "I hardwired my _______ and now I have an electrical problem," I'd tend to look there first. But it sure sounds like you should go to you dealership at this point. I'm not sure that Roadside Assistance is there for technical support... Good luck on a resolution.

Thanks. I hardwired the radar detector the same day I took delivery. So it has been over a month with no problems. I followed the same directions posted here, the same as many others have. I plan on being at the dealership when they open tomorrow morning.

Thats what I am going to do tomorrow. I just wanted to make sure that it wasnt something that I did when I changed the oil. that way when I get there they dont say " your and idiot and its your fault this happened and it will cost you $xxx.xx to fix it" On a side note I have changed the oil in every car that I have ever owned and never had a problem. Same with brakes, spark plugs etc..

i would worry about the hardwire as well, especially since i have a few things hardwired myself. what fuse did you use for your radar detector? did you use an add-a-circuit? if so, i had mine the wrong way when i first installed it.

I used this thread for the hardwiring. Followed the same directions in the post. I think if I would have popped a fuse then the radar detector wouldnt be working. Would it?

with an add-a-circuit, it can still work, but it looks like you did the rear view mirror tap so i agree that the radar detector shoudn't be working if you blew a fuse. oh yeah, things also worked after you unplugged and replugged the battery so forget about my comments.

maybe some relay circuit thingamabob got tripped?
