Bosch Fusion Spark Plugs

Are there restrictions on the kind of spark plugs we can put into the R56?

Is the Bosch Fusion acceptable? Any opinions on this or other high end plugs?

Remember that all these aftermarket parts may void your warranty. If a spark plug fits (same size as original) and it is well calibrated it will work fine, maybe not as good as a better one, but it will work. I, myself, like Denso Iridium better. Since my Mini is still under warranty, spark plugs are still the original ones. Cheers.

Thanks, npalao. I never considered that spark plugs could be a warranty worry. Was hoping to bag a couple miles per gallon. I'm driving about 25k/yr, so it can pay.

Why do you like the Denso? Aren't more gaps better?

Well, it can be a warranty issue if something goes wrong with your engine, God forbid. I can assure you that the dealer will try to point out any problems to after market parts. As far as spark plugs go, it is not the number of electrodes, but the reliability and the quality of the spark. From there, the sparks have come a long way, since the old copper ones, to silver ones, to platinum ones, then multiple electrodes, etc. Denso has always worked great for me, the core electrode is hair thin (therefore they come pre-gapped, so you don´t have to worry about gapping correctly a plug) and made out of iridium, the latest in spark plug technology. It provides a constant and very dense spark, so you can burn all the gas in the combustion chamber!

Denso amigo! That's right. You can get it at most autopart store in the US!

Segura. (I think I have that right. My Spanish is 35 years old.)

Don't forget that the R56 uses a very-odd 14mm 12 point spark plug. Check out this thread.
