Replacement of Automatic Tranny at 100k?

So because some fool was talking about how mini maintenance includes tire rotation (which it doesn't)

i was revieweing my manual for warranty and other maintenance agreements.
it states that the 2007 model must have the automatic transmission replaced at 100,000 mile intervals, has anyone else read this or noticed this?

100k miles ??? i bet they charge 5- 8k for a new tranny too!! anyone quoted this yet? this is really shitty.

Hopefully the bentley manual will come out before any of
us get to 100k miles.

Although I'm hoping it comes out before I get to 50 or 60k miles,
I am certain 100k service intervals are too long.

Jumping to the point I am certain a home method will
become available, just like for the E36 I had.
No special service tools were needed. You just follow the steps
exactly and take your time with it.

From the number of reported failures on the popular MINI forums, we will all be tired of the car before the Aisin automatics fail. CVT's have had some problems, but the 6 speed automatics are remarkably trouble free.

And, the automatic equipped MINIs are faster.......

I have been reading about the 6-speed's needing a clutch replacement in the 1st gen MINI's. I have not seen much on the R56. My wife just bought a 6-speed manual and I bought an auto...both mini cooper S.

I have read about tranny failures both auto/6-speed but none that suggest that this is a common theme.

Funny thing is I had a Lexus IS300...32K miles the tranny needed to be replaced then at 60K miles the motor blew! So when I hear about problems, I know all too well that every car make out there has issues. Some more than others but I believe MINI/BMW did their homework because the consumer reports + people I know that own MINI's show that they are reliable cars if cared for and driven properly. When I hear about people wearing out a clutch within 30K miles I have to wonder how the car was driven. I am sure some may have pressure plate failures...etc...etc... but rare cases.

I love my auto...my 07 MCS auto so far is one of my favorite cars that I have ever owned.

And...for the record...the MCS Auto is the fastest MCS you can buy...even posts faster times than the JCW 6-speed :-D One more reason I bought the car...all about doing the homework.

I can understand being upset however, for one owner to post on various forums that ALL minis are suffering failures is both immature and inaccurate.

Being new to MINI I did some homework and it seems that from 05 to present they have improved in reliability each year.

As I said earlier, I know every car maker has issues...even Toyota/Honda so when thousands of units are sold the numbers seem high when it comes to problems however, what we don't see are the units without issues.

Now, if anyone hears of any valid known issues (common to the design) please post up!
