My 08 MCS has been built and waiting for transport to VDC. Still can't make up my mind on the (dealer installed) chrome scoop. My MCS is in Astro Black with chrome exterior and chrome mirrors. Would a chrome scoop be too much. Thoughts? Thanks!

Definite nay. While I don't mind the amount of chrome the MINI comes with stock (although I know others despise it ) the hood scoop is just way over the top IMO; borderline tacky to be honest. On AB in particular I don't see it meshing very well.
Have you considered the CF scoop? May be a good look...

 

Somewhere on NAM I've seen a photo of an AB MCS with a chrome scoop. IIRC, it looked quite good. You might want to look through the post your pictures here thread to see if you can find it.

got one on the dark silver and it looks great.. but thats in my eyes.
its pretty cheap and a snap in part, so you can always do it yourself.. takes no more than 10 minutes..

 

If you like it go for it. I love it on my DS. In fact it was one of my very first mods. Of course as you can see from my sig pic I feel like you should make it your own. Shiney goooood!

 

I have an AB/AB (chrome mirror caps as well) and learned from my MA that the chrome scoop is on 6-8 week back order nationwide. So, chances are you will be able to see how you like the AB scoop before being presented with a final decision. Having lived with the AB scoop now for two weeks, I think I'm going to stick with it.

 

Looking at all the cars available today, I think that the MINI is one of the few cars that actually looks GOOD with chrome accents. I think it has to do with the overall retro design of the car... so I say YES. I think it would look very cool on an AB MINI.

I actually plan on doing the mirror caps and scoop in chrome at some point this summer.

I considered it myself, but wasn't sure how it would look either. I've decided to wait for something like the more aggressive hood scoop from m7. I've seen a few shots of AB with the chrome scoop over at Mini2.
