How to Clean the Wheel Well?

I am kind a detail guy but somehow I found the new R56 wheel well is very different from the R53 & other cars. It's not black plastic and now it's kind a rough suede like material.

Does anyone knows how to clean it?

Thanks in advance.

I would start with water then use 303 Fabric Cleaner and a stiff brush. When it is clean you can put on 303 Fabric Guard to help keep it clean. This is what I have done with the stuff under my bonnet.

Thanks MiniMaybee.

I really wonder why BMW use "fabric" for the wheel well knowing that it's an all weather type material.

Lots of cars do use this. I suspect it is very good at sound-deadening. I agree, a brush is what seems to work for cleaning...I just need one w/ a narrower head.

A blast from the power washer seems to clean mine up pretty good, but that's probably not as clean as you want it though.

I'm guessing if the fabric is tough enough for a wheel well, it might stand up to pressure washing.

The concept of putting fabric underneath a car seems to be just a bit worse than putting it on the roof. (Most high end car are moving away from fabric convertible tops). If they wanted more sound proofing, they could have coated the unexposed side of the plastic fenderwells with polyurethane.

I Manage it!....well sort off.

Just would like to share what I did today.

Did not have time to buy the Fabric Guard today; so decided I tried the cheapest way : water & mechanic's towel.

What I did I spray the well with water and wipe the whole well with the mechanic's towel ( bought fr. WalMart).

It works; well sort at least about 90% clean.

Hope this helps.....
