R56 Meaning of "scheduled for production"?
Meaning of "scheduled for production"?
I couldn't find another thread on this -- search seems a little flaky. Sorry if this is redundant. But back to my enthusiasm...
Yay! WIKIMINI has a VIN assigned!
Can anybody comment on what "scheduled for production" means and how long my MINI will stay here? Are parts actually being sequenced, assembled, etc. when a car first enters this stage?

Fearless started onFri, MINIUSA todl me she'll be done this week, no other info, said to call back later this week and he'd be able to tell me more ( where in production she is exactly ) Later on this week means this afternoon, right?
It was just today that my car went from "ordered" to "scheduled" too. I suspect they may update status on Mondays.
I was actually more curious about what "scheduled" means to the MINI manufacturing organization than on when WIKIMINI is finished. For instance, does scheduled mean firm parts commitments to 1st tier suppliers, such that the suppliers are queued to build BTO parts? Or does it mean that the parts are to a large extent already sequenced for production?
This is exciting to watch, isn't it?

I like your sigs, so here's mine. It looks like the pic MINI USA sent is sparkling silver, so I usurped it and am pretending it's actually my car. Wouldn't it be cool to get an actual pic of your MINI in body join, or coming out of paint, etc.?

Hi all,
Mine went from "ordered" to "Scheduled for production" on Saturday the 29th of March. It spent about 4 days in that state then on Thursday April 3rd it went to "Waiting for transport". I called (866) ASK-MINI today and it said that she was at the port. It should be about a 10 day ride before she's here in the states!

Just called ASKMINI myself and they say my order is in the body shop already w/ estimated completion date of 4/9 !
Either the Owners Lounge lags behind alot or that was pretty quick. Not complaining either way...
Is it unreasonable to think that I might have my new MINI by the first weekend in May? Would be the perfect birthday present.

Very cool! Happy Birthday!
I read somewhere that actual assembly only takes about 10 hours. Hopefully I'm remembering that correctly.
So based on what RAM1962 and SilverRocket have to say, I think we can deduce that the meaning of "scheduled for assembly" pretty much means at least "sequenced for assembly" through "in the process of being assembled".
This is very exciting!
